My friend drives for this company and has a funeral to be to on Saturday he doesn't want to abandon the truck can he drop the truck off at a different terminal (same company) than what he picked it up from to get home in time for funeral or will that be considered abandoning it as well. He was promised home time by Friday and now are telling him they will try to get him there but cant guarantee a load home they have him run splits he has came close to being in violation a few times because they run him til the last minutes he hasn't even had more than a normal 10 hour reset in 2 weeks. I thought by law they have to give him 32 hours after a certain amount of hours or days. Someone please give advice what he can do he wants to get out from this company but doesn't want to abandon the truck they even said they would cut his fuel card off if he doesn't take the load so he would be stuck.

Oh boy another story concerning K&B and their shady practices, can he go to the higher ups with his concerns, is the funeral for a family member?
Lumper Humper Thanks this. -
I’m not making fun but please, for the love of Mike, learn to use paragraphs.
Other than that, we all know K&B is a scumbag outfit:Western flyer, Lonesome, snowlauncher and 1 other person Thank this. -
Awww geez. Well in a way they are right. A driver can request going home or going to a particular place, but it dont guarantee you can get there. I know from experience. Whether a company tells the truth or not, I can't really say. If you cant get home, I would say get to the terminal and fly yourself home. Sometimes its easier for a company to get you to the yard spur of the moment than it is to get home. Now if the company has advance notice, like weeks ahead of time and they dont get you home, then it shows their true colors. I dont know how much advance you gave but even then, no driver is guaranteed to get home. At this point, I would try to get to Sioux City or wherever it is they are headquartered and get out of dodge

Take the truck to the home terminal. Make sure that someone inspects the truck and signs for it and gives him a copy. Take a picture of the truck . Go home.
Veteran driver and bryan21384 Thank this. -
When will they ever learn?
Western flyer Thanks this. -

They suck them in with that weekly guarantee,
Then bend them over every chance they get.
We used to go a couple of these threads every week.
Maybe some drivers are starting to listen.Veteran driver, icecold24k and BigHossVolvo Thank this. -
It wouldn’t be the first time K&B would be brought up here nor would it be the last..
The expose on they had on the company on “20/20” a few years back should’ve been warning enough!Bret1984, drvrtech77 and Veteran driver Thank this. -
Even if he brings the truck back to the original terminal where he picked the truck up there’s no guarantee K&B still won’t try to put something nefarious on his DAC, for example quit under a load or some vague “company wide”. Violation just to spite him.
here’s the thing about bully companies like K&B
DONT LET THEM PUNK YOU!
life goes on. The HireRight transcript is not the end all be all of any trucking career. A drivers trucking life won’t always hang in the balance based on what’s on a DAC report.
I would recommend leaving K&B and going to a company that won’t have a problem getting a driver to a funeral or a wedding or any other thing that is important.
