I notice that nearly every western express flatbed I see rolling down the road seems to have the worst tarp job ive ever seen, tarp barely covering the cargo or simply in need of more bungees to eliminate it flapping in the wind. Is this due to a lack of training or a lack of hiring standards? when I ran flats even when I was just starting out I took pride in a nice tarp job. furthermore, if the tarping appears to be that half***ed then what is the securement like underneath???

    sincerely,
    A concerned driver.....

I was behind one on the PA turnpike that was so blown up you couldn't even see the mirrors of the tractor. Running down the middle lane at 65 MPH...

    I examine most flatbeds.

IF it's wrapped neatly like a present, there goes a driver.

If it's just a wad of paper slapped on and straps tossed over flapping and tearing.. thats not a driver.

When I worked at Western, it took me a while to figure out how to get it right. Of course I was a rookie. Those Western tarps were massive when I was there. I don't know about those newer black and white ones. It will take time to figure it out. Western flatbedders ate typically rookies

It's not the worse tarp you've seen or will ever see.

    And it's not just W.E.

I understand they are typically rookies. We have all been rookies and had to learn. I totally get that. BUT, There are plenty of other flatbed outfits that take on a lot of rookies and they don’t seem to have such sloppiness imo.
W.E. Should be ashamed of themselves.

You're right, no argument here. I didn't learn everything about taroong when I went out with a trainer. It wasn't a very detailed training. It was always hurry up and get done. I wish I had stayed with my trainer a little longer. Looking back, I wasn't ready to be solo after a month. There was still a lot to learn about flatbedding
