To take 3 weeks or months off at a time, look at temp services. Won't count as job hopping because you work for the temp service and work when you want to. I once worked for a temp service and had a choice of companies to be farmed out to. I wasn't an employee of the trucking companies I went to; was an employee of the temp service and was paid by the temp service. The job history showed only one employer, the temp service.

I started with Maverick. It is a good training company and as I understand it TMC and Melton are much the same. None of these are real good for what you want however, meaning to take 2-3 weeks off at a time. They won't want you taking that much time off. Also they are geared to get you home weekends. I worked later for Britton Transport flatbed, now Bison USA. I have not worked for them since they became Bison USA so can't say how they are now really. @Buc might be able to help some here but he has been gone awhile too. However, he used to work for TMC as well. Anyway, when I worked for them Britton Transport there was a guy that would work several months and then take an extended time off. Also, he lived in the truck. When I was there, the flatbed division was only about 20-30 trucks but they did take new drivers.

Maverick you get to tarp a lot. Used to double tarp metals, had a green canvas tarp that went first then your neoprene tarps.
