SNI "please disable 8/2 split"
QC "sure, that will be $150,000"
SNI "do it of we go to peoplenet"
QC "ok, it will only cost you $1,000,000 to switch. Oh by the way your fancy new workflow won't work on peoplenet."
SNI " ummmmmmm........"
QC "And all the new trailer tracking devices you just installed will make for nice paper weights don't you think"
SNI " ahh... Umm. Ummm....... "
QC "on second thought why don't we make it a nice round $250k to change your parameters"
SNI " we'll get back to you".
Until more people get into the game with functioning slots connected to the ecm AND able to do WF Qualcomm has Schneider by the short and curlies.

Yeah. It could down that way too.
To be clear I think we both know I don't have a clue as to what I'm talking about on this matter. I just find it hard to believe they can't change the parameters of hos how they want. For example. I have line 5 and you don't. How much does this difference cost. I'm guessing not much. Just a simple programming difference. If a 8/2 split caused enough problems to initiate a 400 dollar relay then get rid of it just like you don't have line 5. Maybe I am oversimplifying this. Idk.

When I switch over to maverick, it has the same parameters as schneider. I was told fmcsa made qualcomm change itjakecat22 and drvrtech77 Thank this.

My thought is there is part of the story we don't know about that relay fee. I believe the guy told us all he knows. I just think there's a piece missing. Enough of us have done the split without getting caught so something had to be different. He may have just gotten unlucky, but very few dbl/ica are actively checking logs.
sealevel Thanks this. -
that drive line change happened to several companies at the same time

Best I can tell it's all the ATA companies who are more than willing to crank it down to make it "hurt"that much more. qualcomm-omnitracks still haven't stopped drooling on themselves after the rule making. Everyone wants to be the darling of the fmcsa when millions are at stake. I have a buddy who works for a small (less than 200 trucks) company and his Qualcomm never changed. Could be wrong. Just my thoughts. If the Fmcsa put the crack down on Qualcomm before the rule has even taken place I missed this in the news.TennMan Thanks this.

I lost track.... what did the fmcsa make them change? No 8/2 anymore or once you move while off duty for a few minutes, the elog backs up the drive line to when you first started moving?
Because 8/2 2/8 is still legal and still on the books at fmcsa. -
Lol. Easy to lose track. The 8/2 and the parameters of when drive time starts are being discussed at same time.scottied67 Thanks this.

Lawyers don't like the 8 and 2, they actually fear it, as nearly as I can tell, and very few of them understand the issue as well as JJ Keller.
Not all LEO's dislike the split break, some do, but getting rid of what I called the flexible split and going to the 'hard 14' had more of them come around and I haven't been griped at since I threatened to quit over taking the 2 first, the federal examiner apparently told my boss in error that split breaks had to be done 8 first and the 2, and to extend the 14, that is true, but it isn't needed to implement a split break.
I also have a friend, who is now a cdl instructor, insist the 8 had to come first as told to him by safety at JB Hunt.
No percentage in arguing for no reason, so, in his mind, he is correct. And no, I wouldn't consider joining the Orange Army, either.TennMan and scottied67 Thank this.
