Completing school is NOT a guarantee of getting a job. Some employers have their own school. Some employers only hire from certain schools. DO NOT GO TO SCHOOL UNTIL YOU KNOW WHERE YOU WILL WORK. A hope or a choice you want is not a job. The choice of school is AFTER you know what company you will work for. Read that sentence over & over until you understand which comes first & which comes 2nd.

You're right about compensation. Anyway, can get a lifetime ban from this website for soliciting or receiving referral money. To me that would take the fun out of helping drivers on here anyway. Keeps us honest when we recommend companies.

    Amazing... a kindred spirit?

Actually, you are getting compensated, since you are employed by them.
But I get your point about no extra compensation for saying good things as a promo for something.

I am working for a company that has a much worse reputation than yours, but I have said mainly good things about them.
Much like you, it is not about the money. I just like working here and tell it like it is.
I have told both good and bad aspects about my job and employer over the years, and I hope you will do the same.

Fair is fair, after all. There is always some bad that comes with the good, and visa versa.

And I never moved over to Schneider because I really believe that I work for the better company.
14 years in here... with this same company.

Oh now look what you've done, awoke a sleeping giant. ( Chinatown) You'll notice, our resident recruiter/MD wannabe usually puts the cart ahead of the horse. His suggestions are all legit, but a couple things first. I think you have a great chance at trucking, and the industry/America needs you. However, you must prioritize, as Chinatown will have your head spinning. I too am an advocate of going on with a company that will train you, and have a job waiting for you. They want you to succeed and could even work off the schooling. 2nd, and most important, what kind of trucking, van, reefer, flatbed, dump, tanker, etc and where you want to go, local, ( home daily), regional( possible overnight) or over the road( never home). OTR is by far the most popular for new drivers, and keep in mind, salaries can be grossly overstated. Maybe they have/had a driver where everything went right and made $100gs/ yr. but I think a new driver, $50-$60 is more accurate. Good luck, keep us posted, eh?

glad they’re treating you well… when I was there they still had manuals and since I was an experienced driver without autos only restriction, I got out in a 12 freightliner 10 speed which was only 2 years old, 250k miles, decent truck, and only broke form once, and then it was still drives me thanks to my patching the problem, and crippled it to Indy terminal where they fixed it and even put me in motel for 3 days while they did so.
I drove it til me and the ‘new dbl’ after the main one I had left came in. Probably would have stayed if they’d let me change but they kept saying give him a chance.. I gave him 1.5 months I didn’t come home and got a minimum of a reset after each load, sometimes 4 days, sitting, once in Houston, coroapolis, and again out in that nasty wash in Keasby NJ. Finally got a load to houston, he had it all messed up, supposed to been 4500 gallons no. Hazmat.
I got there, it’s 6000 gallons of flammable and environmental placards needed, had to sit on hold for 3.5 hours, he said he’d fix it. I dropped it in west Memphis, along their guidelines,a copy of paperwork in case on trailer, other to driver services, kingpin lock, and gave key to “driver services/fuel desk” cleaned truck out and quit.
He called a couple days later, saying that was supposed to be a nonhaz load, that he’d done answered after that 3.5 hour hold, and told me to go ahead and load,
Then wanted to know where key to kingpin lock was.

He used to call me every 2-3 months wanting me to come back, finally I reminded him who I was, the one he left stranded after every load. he hasn’t called back in about 1.5 years.

Here a good DBL as a company truck is key. He’s probably promoted to something else by now, but he wasn’t a good leader.
I had lots of problems with that dbl, but other than that I was good. One guy I did tank training with ended up becoming an osr, he was still there, haven’t talked to him in a while.
