We were delivering up to 14 loads per day to the local cold storage. We are down to 6 loads/day. That cold storage was receiving more loads than they could ship out, so the facility is full. I was told today, I would be going to a different cold storage next week, one that is further away (4 hours instead of 1 hour).

I appreciate the birdie. That helps me a little bit. We used to have a wonderful independant cold storage in Searcy approximately a mile west of harding campus. But that one was torn down across from the old Eaton Facility that has been rusting these last 20 years after a Union closure due to low wages etc.

Local news did a story on the local chicken plant “ giving back”. They are selling out of the back of a trailer parked at a church, cash only.

I can tell for sure that is happening. One of our divisions was suppose to take 3 trailers to a local spot to sell out of the back and when the driver got back with the 3rd trailer, the local police wouldn't let him deliver it and shut down the operation because of the amount of traffic trying to get in to the place.

Also, a different chicken plant near me is doing the same thing in a few days.

They are doing everything they can to create more room, even adding several (up to 15) trailers to be used as cold storage but the baby chicks keep on growing. The typical lifespan for a chicken is 7 weeks. That's from the time the baby chick hits the ground until it is harvested as a full grown chicken. If they go much more than 7, the birds start having heart attacks because of the steroids being given to them.

Never would have thought about the damage
That far down the food chain.
This could apply to more than just chickens.

That must be Purdue chicken that claims no steroid or antibiotics? Thought it was Tyson?
