You should still get hazmat endorsement because dry van & reefer haul hazmat loads also. They don't haul the real hot stuff though; dry van & reefers haul freight such as paint or batteries or fingernail polish, etc.

The best paying dry van companies require all the endorsements. By better paying, I mean $100G - $150G per year.

Even food service companies pay $100G and more per year. They do some backhauls that require hazmat endorsement, such as listed above, paint, batteries, etc. I know this because I've done foodservice for a few years.

Good point to mention. Those large liquid totes require tanker endorsement, even if they're shipped in a dry van.

 

Always better have & not need, than to need & not have. Especially when just simple tests & minimal fees.

Every new CDL driver needs Tanker endorsement.

 

Congratulations. That's how I got my CDL but it was called something else.
HIGHLY recommended to get hazmat and tanker endorsements. Best of Luck
