In fact the only way to not go home is to tell them I want to keep working (but taking the time off every week makes for a better work week). They start truckload drivers at 46 cpm. Sleeper shuttle (terminal to terminal) starts at 65. Detention pay is $20 an hour after two, but no customer ever goes past two hours. Other companies won’t charge the customer so they take forever to load you.
Management is amazing. They are all very helpful. They never send me to places like Walmart DC or P&G where there are 300 trucks in front of you. We rarely have to stay at a truck stop because they have over 150 Service Centers. We don’t go into the northeast (this is mainly a southeast company).
Hope to see you around
Averitt routes me home every weekend

Straight .46?
No load or unload pay?
Drop/Hook pay ?
Just mileage? Hub miles, or PC miler cut 10% off the top miles? -
Did you ask Dread Pirate Trucker about Averitt? Lol

Yeah... no offense intended, driver, but it sounds like you just haven't been there long enough. Having worked there myself in the last few years I can say with one hundred percent certainty that your whole second paragraph is factually deficient and sounds like you're making assumptions of the company based solely one they have or have not had you do just yet. I'm glad you enjoy it there and I hope it stays that way, but you may want to temper your expectations.

You rarely go to a truck stop? How is that a good thing? How on earth can you take advantage of:
- Roller grill grub deals?
- Pilot/Loves/FlyingJ custom body shop?
- Pee bottle air fresheners on hot days?
- Jewelry, wheel polishing and “dance” lessons deals?
- Oppotunities to flirt with Big Maude at the fuel desk?
I don’t know man, I think you’re leaving a lot of benefits on the table there.Last edited: Sep 12, 2018
