The problem I see is these "training" companies are basically finding a way to make the drivers even more of a scapegoat if something happens, and micromanage people right out of school. From what I've seen, what passes for "training" is pathetic to say the least. It's really disturbing when I hear "those cameras aren't bad, it's for my own good and the companies'".....to me it sounds like someone spiked their iced tea at the last safety meeting at those places. Of course after 9/11 everyone decided that sacrificing personal freedom would make us all safer.... And now we have the insane police state where anyone who so much as passes gas the wrong way is a possible terrorist. And of course in my partner's country there's still people who insist Marcos' martial law policies were great... Despite the economic mess that created.

Basically the the big Mega Companies like Swift, Schneider, etc. don't want seasoned, experienced, well paid drivers that actually might know what they are doing. They want fully micromanaged, brainwashed, mindless drones that will agree on any BS that is feed to them, will never object to anything no matter how illegal or dangerous, and willingly be indoctrinated into the Corporate Philosophy, no matter how Orwellian it becomes with those cameras. (Kind of like those stupid "Make It Your Business" corporate brainwashing meetings Schneider had back when I started driving many moons ago..,those were a full load of BS!!)

The big companies are pushing for this concept of "Beyond Compliance". In the meantime they are getting all their company drivers brainwashed that Elogs, Front Radar, Auto trans, Lane Departure shock therapy, and cams watching you 24 hours a day are 'good' thing. The idea of Beyond Compliance is that they the big mega crap company has to employ crap drivers who are gonna get into all sorts of violations per thousand miles run compared to independent and small company drivers who are the best. So they will need BC to compete and level the playing field.

You can already see the affects of the spiked Koolaid, there are thousands of truck drivers out there every day with cams recording their every move. If they are a heavy snorer, a quick spot check while the Elog shows Sleeper, the company can find out and flag that driver for possible termination before his 'sleep apnea' kills someone causing bigtime insurance problems for the carrier.

I think it's funny how so many here moan and groan about this new breed of drivers... Even calling them steering wheel holders...

Then along comes @CaptainDaveG saying he doesn't want "just a driver" and he too gets comments...

This is a tough crowd to please... LOL

My company has driver facing cameras. I have been with them over two years. The camera has gone off hundreds of times and I have never been called once about it.

the cameras are like every companies 1 million silly policies. they don't matter until they want to fire you. knowing good and well frequently drivers violate many company policies, nothing will be said until it's time for them to go. the employers keep it up their sleeves until it's time.

A company doesn't need a reason to let you go. Then can just fire you. My state is an at will state.

And the next time your company has a serious accident, the kind that attracts sharks, this will serve as proof your company is dangerous, doesn't care about safety, doesn't properly supervise and train its drivers, etc.

    You complete
I think you missed the point, or maybe I wasn't clear.

I'm sure your company is not dangerous and does indeed care about safety. The point is that some trial lawyer will claim they are dangerous because they are not calling and "training" you after every triggering event.
