Thanks, man. I need the humor right now. Never been through this type of mess before.

This^, but have your exit strategy ready to execute the second you tell them this because you'll surely be shown the door, probably about 5 seconds after you utter the words. Then again, I wouldn't call to tell them. I'd reply to the message they sent asking you to sign it.

As others have stated, it's perfectly legal as long as they apply the new wage to new work, not previous work. One thing that caught my eye on the paystub you posted is the fact they referred to "Driving hours". That infers, to me anyway, they're not including "on duty" time. I would definitely consult with an attorney about that because Washington is a right to work state (I think) meaning their labor laws lean more in favor of the worker.

Lastly, I am going to unashamedly pat myself on the back because I knew these companies would do their best to get driver rates back down after the pandemic. It never occurred to me any of them would be so blatant about it, however. I assumed they would simply starve out, by cutting miles, drivers they felt were too expensive. Let's be honest here. The industry has been hell bent on turning the noble profession of truck driver into a minimum wage job for as long as I've been driving (11 years, second career for me). The only reason driver wages sky rocketed like they did was because they had no choice. Clearly, your company doesn't believe they need to continue in that direction any longer.

Oh, and I just saw Judge's resignation letter after I posted. Go that route if you'd prefer to not express your true feelings towards them. Otherwise, proceed with Kenworth6969's idea.

I’ve been driving for 8 1/2 years now and up until this point I’ve never heard of ANY trucking company that would institute pay cuts-not even Western Express would do such a thing!

I certainly will let everyone know how this turns out.

Any pointers on what to do should the fuel card be cut off? I'm at a half tank right now. We fuel at PFJ and TA/Petro.

You can question them.. but Don’t burn bridges, I’ve done that a few times, once calling a former boss a freaking dumb### and a gosh darn thief infront of everyone and was cleaning my truck out.

Then the dude came out while i was throwing my gear out of the truck to say, “If you drive out that gate, I won’t you back for one dollar an hour.”

to which i replied, “F off, I wouldn’t work here for $100/hour cause you’d just be BS’ing me again. My suggestion is don’t get infront of the gate.”

Now i haul into that place, it’s been since 2007, and he’s one of the managers, only like 2 are still there out of about 60 people.

It’s called a sinking ship. Ask a union member to explain what “concessions” are. Then have them explain how long before you get them back, if at all. Then ask how long it might be before they go out of business.

Yup, the OP will definitely need to decide whether or not he's willing to burn that bridge because the "I want to see the CEO paycut..." route is definitely a one way highway out of the company. That's why I don't generally make rash decisions and, generally speaking, prefer the "Cooler heads will prevail" attitude.
