Yah, I'm currently helping out in Cheyenne. So far all loads have just been out and back from the Denver area. Quick short 300/400 mi run.

You are already at 70 cents so if you sign up to help that should get you 76cent plus 2/3 stop pay per load ;)

So they monitor your speed? You can't go over a certain mph ?? Or they don't want you going over speed limits ? Would they get pissed at you if you did like 85mph in a 70 on I-40 going down some hill ?

It's monitored by the peep net. I've gotten plenty of over speed warnings when hitting 80s going down a big hill fully loaded but no safety call or safety points for it.

Typically the moment you hit 75 you have around 5 seconds to slow down or it will hit you with an over speed. Going over 80 hits you with excessive overspeed.

All the automatic trucks come with auto jakebreaks that come on the moment you hit 70 however they do little to slow you down if fully loaded.

My manual does it too. Kinda sucks when you're in a "no jake brake" area and it decides to turn itself on.

Crete will nickel-and-dime you to death. Right out of the gate you've got to buy their preferred door and kingpin lock set for like a hundred bucks. When you change trucks they charge you $250 if you don't detail the old truck, even if it wasn't detailed when you got it (which it wasn't). You will pay for any overweight citations right out of your check. Any little thing (a speeding warning in my case) will cancel your quarterly bonus. They won't pay for lockouts. You have to jump through hoops to get detention or shag pay. They will badger you to death over fuel compliance. AND they will unexpectedly assign you to a DC for a week at a time even if you didn't sign up for regional work, with the promise of higher pay for stops which turns out to actually be lower pay overall because the miles are so low. I'm still working for them but looking to make a move soon. A very tightwad company.

Not to be confused with being a Crete lover, but the last time I was at Shaffer, I was moved into 5 different trucks in my 1st 3 months back with them and they didn't charge me a penny. It depends on what terminal you're out of and where you change trucks. If you change in Wilmer or Lincoln, stop by Walmart on the way in and pick up some KY lube because they don't provide it when they stick it in and break it off in your posterior. Plus the lock fee is a deposit and is fully refunded when you get sick of their B.S. and leave. As for overweight citations, most companies will do that without getting the o.k. to pull it from management. The easiest way to deter them from putting you on Walmart duty is be the lowest performing driver on the fleet. Take lots of 30 minute breaks before and after the delivery and set your pta out 12-14 hours after you get back to the barn. Soon, they'll excuse you from that detail and never ask you again. Yes, it'll mess up that weeks paycheck, but it cures them from trying again. I learned what you could and couldn't get away with when I was there. And apparently they weren't too unhappy with my antics because I have been gone over 2 years and I still get the occasional email or txt from them wanting me to come back even after I told them repeatedly, in an increasingly offensive way, that I would never set foot on an Acklie property again.

I think I would tell them I would never set foot on an Ostergaard property again. I liked old man Acklie.

It's still Acklie, the Ostergard boys are just the one's who'll inherit it when Duane's wife passes
