My husband and I bought a Fed Ex line haul company last month. Since that time we have lost 3 drivers: Failed health exam, Arrested, and one was brand new and has missed 3 runs due to minor accidents with the trailer. Does anyone have a system or outlet for hiring drivers?

Drivers are hard to find these days. Everybody and his uncle is hiring. Although this website has a chat board for job postings. You might scan there to see what people are paying these days, and then try your luck with a detailed posting.

Look at temp company to fill your needs until u can find replacement drivers.

This is why I don’t make as much as I am told that I need to make, driver retention is number one for me.
I would suggest going to a recruiter to find a group of drivers to go through to find one and make sure you retain them.K.C., Opendeckin, Another Canadian driver and 3 others Thank this. -

What is the rate of pay and the location? Where is the turn? What kind of equipment? Night driving or day?

In trucking there are companies with <10% turnover and companies with >100% turnover and not a whole lot in-between. Both companies will insist it's not THEM, it's the drivers. ProTip: Drivers tend to stay where they're treated well; drive new, well maintained equipment and are paid fairly.
Are you competitive? Could you link an ad so we can see the bait you're using? There's lots more to a driving job than pay. Here's a partial checklist I use when considering a driving job:
Are the trucks governed? What speed?
Are trucks assigned or do you slip seat?
Paid hourly? Why not? (this is more of a West coast thing. It can 20 minutes or 4 hours to drive across Portland depending on the time of day and time of year. Seattle, Sacramento and LA are worse!)
Cameras? Where are they facing?
How old are the trucks? When do you retire a truck?
How are your trucks equipped? (APU/Inverter/Fridge/Microwave/etc.)
How are the trucks fueled? In house pumps, planned fuel stops, I fuel wherever I want as needed, etc?
I already know my primary route, what other routes I may be asked to drive?
What other job duties are there besides getting the truck from A to B?
What days do I get off? Paid vacation? Paid holidays? Sick days?
If my truck's in for maintenance/repairs what happens to my route (loaner truck/run cancelled/rental)?Another Canadian driver, Switcher, nredfor88 and 3 others Thank this. -
I used to drive for Knight and they don’t want me back. Clean CDL and clean level 1, 2 and 3 inspections. I even fly to PHX from Asia at my expense! Or maybe it’s because I can only tolerate 3 or 4 months of the job and then I bail out?
I’ll stay in Asia and teach English and be home every night. For a lousy 44 cents per mile you can keep your job.Another Canadian driver, lual, zep1218 and 3 others Thank this.
