My vote is for Espar too - there’s a good You Tube video on maintenance, and they’re a pretty quick return on investment.
I didn’t have the block heater version. -
The hydronic heaters are supposed to be able to warm an engine to operating temps in 2 hours. And you can get a timer for them.

$1750 to buy and install an Espar from the closest dealer. Looks like I’ll be doing it myself.

1750 USD is high for that job. I bought mine for about 1100 cdn and maybe 300 in install. I would guess 1400 I was into it for. Which is maybe 1100 USD. So your price is like 50% higher...
