Can you build a business from one direct customer? Is it foolish to depend on just one place for all your work? Treat me like an idiot because I am. Thanks
Direct customer

It would worry me some especially if said customer is a newer company. A long standing company I might feel fairly safe working only for them depending on how much I knew about their history and future outlook. On the other hand as long as you have enough cash on hand to hunt for other customers if they fail or quit using you go for it provided it’s a favorable deal.

Sometimes it’ll cost you.
Was running for more than double per day, but I help out a couple companies and they go a lot less miles, but they pay per hour, use their trailers.
Have to know your expenses.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -

I have been successful with just one direct customer. Is it smart... that's for you to decide. If the money is good get it while you can. Just realize that it could all end quickly and you need to have a plan B to fall back on.
bamanation and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Bulk commodities and cattle
I get different answers from different people pulling for them, but I see a lot of nice equipment coming and going
I don't even have a cdl yet much less a truck but I think I found an in with these people
Just asking questions and trying to learn. I'm semi retired and these guys are right in my door.
I intend to work for someone for a couple years but the end goal is my own equipment.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Yes it can be done, and it can be lucrative. It’s not really stupid as long as you are a one truck possibly two truck operation. When you are small you are nimble. That gives you the ability to pivot quickly if you need to. The only constant in trucking is that everything changes. As you grow you will need to find other customers. The larger you get the smaller the percentage you want one customer to be.
good luck!!exhausted379, Rideandrepair, blairandgretchen and 4 others Thank this.
