Who told you that BS? Most decent companies have gone to APUs because they both pay for themselves AND lower driver turnover. Opti idle is a recipe to lose drivers.
Inverter can’t be wired, only cigarette plug in style. They might let you put in a wired on if you have them install it. I’ve been told that they are starting to put inverters in the new trucks but I haven’t seen them first hand. You are supposed to keep idle to a minimum but I think you can over ride the idle shut off. Talk to the shop. If you get 1, 2, or 3 million accident free miles you get a new truck with inverter and apu. Sounds nice to some of their students but that is a long time before getting into equipment that is standard at some other places.
