Couldn’t agree more when it comes to weather. Before my black ice incident a couple of winters ago, I would power through any type of weather, that incident humbled me. I am more apt to error on the side of caution now.

Picked up at the KCMO drop yard yesterday going to Columbia, Sc for a drop. Should get down there tomorrow morning, after dropping I’m headed to the house. Going to take four days off, next week on Monday and Tuesday we are having the whole HVAC system replaced in the house, including the duct system. Very costly, but very necessary.

Something like that, plus getting the blades about two inches shorter always worked for me. Keeps the ends of the blades from getting that little ice pellet under them.

I buy Bosch Icons for all vehicles i drive, cars and trucks. Very impressed with their performance. The regular wipers would clog up and i would have to stop to clean them.

Gonna hit the road and take 61/54/40 to California. Anything i should be aware of on the way? Doesn't California have AG check stations or whatever? Driving into completely new territory as Magnum never went anywhere near that direction.

    dwells40 Thanks this.

As soon as you cross into California, just before Needles is the AG station. Open 24/7. During the day there’s a CHP there doing truck inspections. Careful going through the desert and across 58 to Bakersfield, they’ve had high winds and a boatload of big truck blow overs the last few days.

If you’re going down the 15, the southbound scale going down Cajon Pass is out of the ground, but occasionally will open it for truck inspections. If you’re going across 58 to Bakersfield, the scale starting up Tehachapi is usually open and does truck inspections as well.

I’ve run out there for 40 years, going across the desert on 40 is a boring drive. Stay in the right lane and go 62 and you’ll have zero issues. Let Haji have at it in the left lane going their 70.

This time of year that’s the “preferred” route. New Mexico and Arizona have had more snow than usual this year on I40, but a just talked to a fellow FCC driver that came across there today, and it wasn’t bad. Flagstaff is calling for another round of snow early next week, so check your weather apps.

From Victorville you will be sent down into the greater LA basin somewhere to reload, we have several different customers down there, some are drop and hook, and some will be live loads. Google earth is your friend, use it to scope the area out once you get your preplan. Any questions, ask away.

Have your B/L handy when you get to the Fruit Nazis (heard a comedian call Commiefornia AG station officers that). Just when you think they won't ask for them, thats when they will. I run open deck and brought 2 20k lb casks of titanium thru there last month and they wanted to see my bills.

Is there a standby mode or something similar on these Carrier APU's? On the Thermokings i had, it would automatically be in standby mode and it would fire up the APU once the truck got down to a certain voltage. I was grabbing some things out of my truck this evening and the truck was at 11.9 volts and it barely started.
