I talked to some that came here that had problems there at holland ent. from my own experience I like gpt's maintenance a lot better, and since we have the bonuses on top of higher base pay I'm still sticking around here. Basically there's some growing pains resulting from the split, and it's been a bit tough since the company pretty much had to change around some things. I kept getting recruitment calls from holland and it drove me nuts to the point I had to put Holland's number on block. Besides that satellite tv setup they keep advertising isn't very impressive to me.
I don't want to sound like I'm a company kiss-###. Like I've been saying, I'm still sticking with this place, it's been better than where I was at before, and yeah sometimes mistakes get made. I guess for some it'll work out and some it won't. I'm just working on getting my own personal crap straight after a disastrous couple of years and trying to keep the rest of the world off my back. I'm sure holland may still have some good runs but there's a bunch of things about this company that work better for me.highwayman Thanks this. -
The Great Plains versus Holland debacle, so what kind of promises is Holland not able to keep. BTW I like both companies, definitely interesting since the split.Last edited: Nov 11, 2015

I don't work for Holland , I hear things just like we all hear things. I did speak to a driver that said he fell for the Holland flashy come aboard speech. Promises of brand new trucks. Free Sattalite tv more etc etc. said he went there and pay didn't add up due to less miles. Said sattalite was provided as promised but didn't work. Said he was put in a used truck. ..was any of this true? I don't know. Do we ever know what's true? A couple more drivers said they were let down after going to Holland. ..I was just making a statement saying I heard. ..heck we all hear this or that about company's. Just the way the trucking world turns. Lolcarramrod32 Thanks this.

Do you
Do you? -
Did you turn the truck in at the terminal? -
Hmmm. I was never promised anything, but they have done what they say they would. And very organized. But this is just my experience. 3700 miles/7 days.
And no broker's.highwayman Thanks this. -
Oh the humanity a 2 year old used truck.
Not seen new trucks promised.
Expecting a new truck is unrealistic anyway.
Sat TV works great. Is it at all possible that it may have been broken? Things do brake occasionallyLast edited: Nov 11, 2015

Holland driver here. One of the other gentleman I was in orientation with was a rehire, one of the conditions for returning to Holland was a brand new truck. He was assigned a truck with 70 miles on it.
As for the TV, how is that a big deal? If satellite TV is the only reason you go work for a company, you need to get your priorities straight. Mine broke for 3 weeks due to a frayed wire on the outside. Balakov is right, stuff will break here and there.
Don't get me wrong, Holland has their quirks, but it's still a great company to be at. And I know Great Plains is a great company too, despite the dispatch issues they've been having since the separation. I applaud anonymousproxy for sticking it out like he has.
I still don't understand the broken promises thing. I get above average miles and I'm home on time, every time, sometimes a day early. So next time you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean.joseph1135, TB John and Balakov100 Thank this. -
A 2 year old truck? That's not bad actually ... One now-defunct company I returned to some years back had nothing but bare-bones one-lung-Mercedes powered 7 year old Columbias...and those were fully trashed lol
highwayman Thanks this.
