I am eyeing GOE. Sorry to necrothread, but did you guys get forward facing cameras as Brent promised?
-
No company cameras on any trucks as of yet. Just got the newest trucks in here too - no cameras. I have my own forward facing camera, and a lot of our drivers do. Gotta CYA out there, ya know?
Wally bear Thanks this. -
the way I understand it, at this point its almost the same exact cost to install forward facing cameras for the fleet as it is to have a complete "Camera System Program" which involves Forward, Side and Driver Facing cameras. So my guess is that we'll continue to NOT have company cameras on the trucks, but if we ever do, it will be all of them at once.Wally bear Thanks this.

Don't think that we will get driver facing cameras. But if, it will be my last day at GO Express
bzinger Thanks this. -
Just talked to Brent, the next new trucks will have a forward facing camera, one driver will pick up the first today.
The camera will record only if it's triggered thru a hard braking or swerving event (or accident), the camera will be wired to truck and trailer to detect a rollover event. I will still run my own camera when I get a new truck, this one's recording 24/7.
But definitely NO driver facing cameras

I don't think that's the whole story. The camera records all the time & loops over old footage. It saves footage before & after being triggered for a set amount of time. The Kraut Thanks this.

I think you're right

We will get it explained in the next days.
For me it's important that it's no driver facing camera! -
Well - I'm an uninformed idiot! lol
And - here are the details about when the camera records - He sorta touches on that. I think it just starts when there is a critical event, but I'm with you, I think it must be always "live" but doesn't "save" until something happens. But its not like the ones we can buy where we can just pull up a specific time and check it out. It's probably like a 30 min loop until a critical event happens...
In any case - its front facing, so I don't care if its recording full time, honestly. Keep those 4-Wheelers Honest! It's always a good feeling to be able to point back to your camera and say "Are you sure that is the story you're going with? It's all on tape, wanna try again and tell Mr. Officer what actually happened?"rocknroll81 Thanks this.
