I have used them for 4 or 5 years, except I brief stint with a company who pledged that they won't go electronic until the government forces them. And in all my electronic time, I have had 1 DOT inspection where the officer wanted me to page thru my last 8...other than that, they see the elog sticker on the door and wave me thru.

I'm like most that have posted here, hated them at first, but now I wouldn't truck with a paper log company. I adapted and learned how to make as good or better money on elogs. That's a part of trucking that is fading away. It use to be, an old school driver would adapt and find a way to succeed no matter what obstacles were thrown in their path...now, it's not that way it seems.

People dont realize you can gain time. Elds track to the minute. Not the quarter minute, so if logging correctly on paper, and you spend 8 mins at a rest area, you dont lose 15 minutes you only lose 8. Say you stop 3 times 8 mins a piece, you just saved 20 mins a day.

    Just passing by Thanks this.

If I could change any one thing about HOS, it would be an exemption to extend the 14hr clock by 2-4hrs to up to 18, ASSUMING that a consecutive 4hr break had been taken earlier in the day, minimum 2hrs. That would alleviate most concerns about not being able to get to safe parking after being delayed at a shipper, and avoid the 16hr rule confusion. That would especially come in handy for reefer.

My dad drives reefer with Moeller trucking out of Maria Stein Ohio. They just put him on elogs last week, and he loves them. He's been out here for over 25 years, he's been waiting for the day to get off paper because of the added stress of getting inspected

Go back to the 1962 version of HOS and a lot of our issues will go away.

I doubt Trump can do anything, Congress passed it as law. Congress would have to draft a repeal, then vote on it, then send it to Trump. The chances of any bill with major lobby groups getting out of Committee, let alone heard on the floor and voted on, is unlikely.

I imagine they could write a new law banning the old law. Like you said though since it passed it won't make it out of committes.
