Back when fuel was high, a cheap motel was less expensive that running your truck for 12 hrs. Plus it's good for the truck to get a break too.
Plus, many years I tried to get a day of work in after church on Sunday around the farm, then truck all night to deliver on Monday. My knees are paying the price now. There is more to Mooney's post than just the words written. -
I got a hotel room for only 1 night for the first time just a few days ago. Only reason I did that was because my APU broke and it was going to be in the teens that night. I'm kind of a snob when it comes to hotels, I usually go for nicer, more expensive rooms. So it wouldn't be cost effective for me. But if I have time for a 34, I'll definitely be getting a room for 2 nights. It's well worth it to enjoy a comfy bed, basic cable, and bathroom access.

I like getting a room in Las Vegas in the Summer because it is stupid hot and I get points at the Rio.

Most of your hotels like Super 8, Econo Lodge, Motel 6, Days Inn, Howard Johnsons have truck parking and offer very reasonable trucker rates. I have both Wyndam Rewards and Choice Hotels memberships. I ve got free stays because of the amount of points and stays.

La Quinta has rewards, some truck parking and pets stay for free.

That's great advice... Thanks

Long time Harrah's rewards player here. Stayed many times for free at their various hotel/casinos around the country. Rio all suites hotel is just about my favorite. They offered me 2 free nights for a deluxe strip view suite but I went home for the week instead.
I try to save money on hotels as much as possible, will stay in the truck. But occasionally will spring for a room like in hot humid sticky Houston TX, next door to the Flying suckhole, will grab a couple 25 ounce beers and go soak in the hot tub.Criminey Jade Thanks this.
