I feel as if 90% of your 90% figures aren’t staying with a company long enough to figure out what’s up or who’s who. And now the road is filled with pissed off people that don’t really know what they are doing. Calling themselves “Drivers”
Is it Just Me???

It was the best road job I ever had up to that point
Until they started leasing trucks. Straight down hill from there.
I could care less about respect and communication
And all that other stuff. As a matter of fact the less
Communication the better.
All I need is the pick up and delivery info, that's it.
Just give me a dependable truck, 1500 bucks a week
After taxes and leave me alone.
You respect me at 1500 a week,
You don't respect me at 800. That's the way I see it.
Any company that can do those 3 things would
Have a waiting list of experienced drivers trying to get in on it.
Keep me moving,
Leave me alone,
And pay me what it's worth to be out here.
Simple, yet Most of them don't do any of the 3
Let alone one of them.
If your lucky enough to get all three you've hit the jackpot.
I've gotten lucky with my last 2 jobs to hit the jackpot.
And I run my ### off now more than I ever have
And go to places I wouldn't go for anybody else.
But they pay me more than enough to put up
With it.
That's all that matters to most drivers.
Pay them enough to put up with all the bull that
Comes with the job.
By the way only dispatcher I remember from
Western flyer was mine. And she was a woman
Who left a couple years ago.TheyCallMeDave, DSK333 and Rocks Thank this. -
If they suck when you get there, guess what, they suck.
You sticking around ain't going to change them to
A better place.
Some of you people have no clue.
We're all just a hired guns, that's it, nothing more.
Completely replaceable at the drop of a dime.
Every one of us from the rookie, to the 30 year vet.
If you've got 10 years straight at Werner, that doesn't
Make you special. That makes you stupid for wasting
10 years there. Not to mention the 150,000 bucks
Less you made over that time.
Loyalty doesn't pay the bills, cash does.LtlAnonymous, Hotplate, Sandman 660 and 5 others Thank this. -
I guess I’ll reiterate what I’ve been saying. There’s a slim minority of good, small companies that try to hold onto their drivers (at least the good ones), they aren’t perfect but many of them have no choice but to offer the standard higher rate of pay because of the mega companies and foreign owned hole in the wall outfits that keep sinking rates into the toilet. Unfortunately the number of small good companies is dwindling as they get forced out or bought. Not to mention there’s a whole new generation of idiots coming into this industry who don’t even have the brains to handle a bicycle let alone a truck.
Toomanybikes and REO6205 Thank this. -
I think the first thing one must figure out is what they want out of a driving career. If money is your only objective, then you're gonna put up with more BS. If you are driving because you truly enjoy being a truck driver, chances are you won't be making the big bucks. But you'll be happier.
I could never work for UPS or Walmat, which is considered the Holy Grail to some. Too much micromanaging going on there. Yes those guys and gals make a nice paycheck, but I've yet to meet one that's really satisfied with their job.
One thing I've figured out over 18 years is that truly good companies don't advertise for help. They don't need to. If you see them advertising jobs on Facebook or in truckstop magazines, stay away. There's a reason they have to advertise.
The guy I work for has been in business for 25 years now, and I've never known of him to advertise for drivers. There's actually a waiting list. And about one person shows up every week looking. But we're small, only 20 trucks. And we don't drive trash either. I'm on my second new glider in three years. Am I making UPS money? No. Probably not close. But I make enough to live comfortably and save for retirement, even though I can't see myself retiring. But there's no stress at work. He gives me my runs, and I do them, he doesnt bother me, and I don't bother him. But I can assure you, if I do have an issue, it gets resolved very quickly.
So, yeah, there's good companies out there, you just have to find themSandman 660, Paddlewagon and REO6205 Thank this. -

Haha perfect wife.. hahaha lmfaooo never gonna happen brother. He'll with no college education truckers get paid good regardless. If you don't like it you could easily put yourself through school with this job. But it is a hard job no matter what company you go to and I doubt any companies are perfect but how should I know -
No one is forcing anybody to do anything.
If you treat all your employees like toilet paper - fill them full of #### and flush them away each and every year - 100% annual turnover - there may be a shortage some day, but not today, or tomorrow. They have been doing it for 35+ years.Last edited: Mar 26, 2018
