Someone tell me where the fuse is located for this evil thing...or tell me how to pop it off so the lens can be covered. For science.

I'm unsure. I apologize. It's a gray cube, cord running from the top.

If you were to paint solid black paint in front of the mobile eye would that work? then just scrape the paint off before you get into the terminal.

I've heard that works. I'm thinking gorilla tape that I apply and reapply. I've heard people popping them off and putting a black slip of paper in there so the terminal guys don't see it. I just can't get it off.

I'd consider black electrical tape before gorilla tape. Will leave less residue in case anyone looks at it. Or, if you can find it, black painters tape.

This is all for science of course

I had another guy tell me he just pop the speaker up and put paper towels around the speaker so it doesn't make a noise.

What about wearing one of those noise cancelling gaming headsets? Easier to take it off when approaching a terminal
