I work at a smaller company than Big G. One dispatcher takes the phone home for the weekend. I have other names and numbers in my phone if necessary, although typically I don’t work weekends. I headed out yesterday (Sunday) for the first time in a month. I’ve been off on the weekend lately.

Last I posted I was on the way from Idaho to Memphis TN. Made that delivery and did a drop and hook in Memphis running up to Mounds View, MN. Delivered that this morning. Grabbed another loaded trailer in the yard and delivered that to Rogers, MN.
Deadheaded over to Hopkins MN and I’m getting loaded here going up to Fargo. Drop and hook up there. Then I’m getting loaded in Wilmer, MN tomorrow headed to NC for a couple days off....

Have a delivery appt here in Lexington SC at 0700. Got here at 0600 to a long left turn lane full of trucks.

Got to the gate guard at exactly 0700. Checked in and was told to pull up along the fence and wait.

I had an egg mcmuffin meal this morning from McDonald's before I headed over here. So I'm lovin' it. :)

Got a pickup this afternoon; Concord NC to Fon Du Lac WI. Just did that load about a week ago. Easy enough.

My odometer sits at about 6,700 this month so far. Or about 42,283 for the July-Oct trimester. Keeping real busy! On pace for the big five-oh!

Choosing loads? every load I have had has been "forced dispatch" I'm confused!

I normally get a choice out of ND or MN. Outside that area, I think it is pretty much forced unless there's an hour's, maintenance, or home time issue. I'm learning where to try and not go out if ND/MN area! What I don't like is having a little ad offer given to me just before dispatch bolts for the door at night. Sometimes we need info or other comm that would be nice before dispatch went home.

When getting a load in MN or ND.... the Outbound region..... you can ask what loads they have. But you must call ahead of time and discuss with the dispatcher. If you just wait for reload info to be sent via peoplenet...they are gonna just send you a load. It’s how you maximize your miles at Magnum. Communication.... when you call and get the dispatcher, tell them when your load unloads, your available hrs. And ask them what loads are available. If they offer one load, ask if there are any others. Pretty simple
They may tell you that’s all that’s availible for that day. Or they will say, well, I have a GA load, 2 Texas loads, Ohio, Maryland and NC. Then ask details... ‘where does the Texas load go?’ ‘When does it deliver?’ ‘How bout that GA load?’ ‘Ok.... I’ll take that GA load!’
Been doing it that way for 3+ years

I like to ask for whatever nets the most miles per day. I'm boring like that. Lol

So I started my pretrip this morning. Then the guy parked next to me pulls out of his spot. Then breaks down. Right in my way. :D now im not going anywhere. FB_IMG_1508325311881.jpg
UPDATE: The truck behind me left. So i was able to slide my tandems all the way back, back up a bit, and pull a hard left out of there. Thankfully. Back in business!
