Attention, the MN Pollution Control agency is in the process of adapting the California emissons rules for cars, creating a lot of problems for car owners. They did not refer to it, but I imagine the truck rules will not be far behind. Call your elected officials to complain before it is too late.
Minnesota Emissions laws are changing.

They don’t care, no elected official does, they vote the way the money rolls from the lobbyist, that was learned back in Civics and Government back in the day of schools and from what a representative of Blanche Lincoln told me years ago on the phone before she hung up on me.
I’m sure in MN it’ll be the same thing,NWAF, bzinger, Doealex and 1 other person Thank this. -
Which is dumb because there aren't any mountains in the populated areas of Minnesota to trap the smog like in California.
Studebaker Hawk and TheLoadOut Thank this. -
I live in Mpls burbs. Politicians there suck big donkey D$%&S! IDK why they want to be like CA. I did see a homeless guy sleeping on sidewalk in middle of day in Aug. First time I seen that in Mpls in last 30 yrs. Guess becoming CA like. Is starting.

If the vehicle was not manufactured to comply with California Emission Standards, how would Minnesota enforce such regulations?
Would Minnesota require all citizens to replace every car, truck, lawn mower, snow machine, boat engine, generator, or pick up truck?
They can legislate that from a certain date all internal combustion engines meet a set of emissions standard, but they can't retroactively require compliance.TheLoadOut, Studebaker Hawk and bzinger Thank this. -
States should not be allowed to have emissions requirements outside of a national standard.

There are approximately 20 states that have the same pollution standards for cars and light trucks as California. Most of them are in the Northeast, and they adopted those requirements years ago.
No one, not even California has ever required pollution standards for cars to be retrofitted to a later standard because it is impossible.
The net effect is negligible. Some options might not be available, or my personal favorite, certain Camaro's with certain performance packages are not available in those states, not because of what comes out of the tailpipe, but because of the type of disc brake pads they use and the dust that comes off.
That is why it was such a big deal when they did require such equipment for earlier diesel trucks, which they found out was an abysmal failure.Accidental Trucker, bigguns, buddynewOO and 2 others Thank this. -
In Pennsylvania, some counties require a passenger car to have an emissions inspection performed along with a state inspection, and other counties only require a state inspection. Whether or not an emissions inspection is required is based off of the population of that county. My parents live in Westmoreland county and they need an emissions inspection, but literally 5 mins down the road is Indiana county, which is emissions exempt. It's all about moneymaking.
