That's why I always suggest/demand you find the job before deciding about CDL school. As you have found all CDL schools are not the same and the wrong school locks you into only bad choices or you can spend twice and go to another CDL school.

You are too young to get a good job with a CDL unless you have an uncle that wants to give you a break. MANY trucking companies won't hire anyone less than 23 or 25.

Check out Mike Lowrie trucking in Dixon. I’d be pretty surprised if they wouldn’t give you a shot during tomato season, or running belly dumps full time locally.

    More info on Sky Chef's
Gate Gourmet lost a major customer, United Airlines. Sky Chef's took over that contract, so was able to hire all the laid off workers.
You might still have a chance for one of the trucking jobs at Sky Chef's because their business has now doubled.

You completed 70 hours and they’d let you drive a truck . are they freaking nuts? That’s what two weeks you gotta be kidding me.

I think the companies are just desperate for drivers to turn them loose like that 70 hours and then turn loose to drive a truck. They’ve gotta be desperate

It took my school the entire first week just for classroom time and completing the different tests at the dmv for the permit and endorsements. 3 more weeks working hard to learn everything. 40 hours per week.

What was your truck school experience like?

my school required that you already have the permit before training with them. as far as the training, all they required was that you got your 15 hours of required behind the wheel training. besides that, it was basically up to you to come in as little or as often as you wanted in order to practice the basic maneuvers & pre-trip inspection. there was no set schedule on when you had to be there, which looking back now definitely should have raised some red flags.
