About 3 years ago I posted for the first time in on this forum and now, I am finally able to say I can start my driving career. Anyway...

I joined up with Knight Transport and will be going through their CDL School, and if anyone here has worked for them, or if you just know how this works--here is my question:

On their driver app (the place where you can set up direct deposits for your pay) it says
"Fuel Card / Net Amount" and it's telling me I will get my entire net pay on this... I assume this means I'm being paid onto a fuel card instead of into my bank account. I am able to set up a bank direct deposit but I can only choose a percentage or a dollar amount to go into it--not the entire pay.

Is there a way to get my entire paycheck into my bank account? Is this a Knight Transport thing with the fuel card? Or a trucking-in-general thing? I've never dealt with a job like this before, so I apologize for my lack of understanding.

I apologize in advance if there's a more appropriate section for this--and thanks in advance for any help.

If they're putting your money on a fuel card...RUN!!! I'd contact HR and ask for direct deposit or to have your check mailed to your home

Like @North Pole Nighmare said, try putting 100% of your fuel card pay into your bank account. Also the fuel card companies allow you to transfer money from your fuel card to a bank account. I don't know if they charge a fee, they probably do.

You completely misunderstood what "fuel card " is.
No one will put your paycheck on your "fuel card" account.
That "fuel card " will be used at pump
As for "Net amount", thats money you can take in advance from you future paycheck, if you need cash "right now, right here'

I never worked for Knight, but usually trucking companies give to cards. One is your Fuel card, so you can buy fuel at truck stops. The other card is payroll card. They deposit your pay onto the payroll card. You can then call or setup direct deposit and call and transfer your pay from the card to your Bank account or ATM if you want. My company only has fuel cards and when I was hired we setup direct deposit to my bank account.

If I need cash for something for the truck I can get cash advance every week up to $260. You get them off the fuel card. You can use the cash advance for anything you want. If you don't send in a receipt showing it was for truck, then they figure it was for yourself and take it from your paycheck.

Just fill out the forms at orientation for direct deposit into your bank account. Routing# Account #. This is the year 2022. Direct deposit has been the norm for about 20 years now. As for CDL School with Knight....or any Company. Listen carefully.....SHOW UP, SHUT UP, PAY ATTENTION. You are embarking on a 3 week job interview. DO NOT make "friends" with anybody. Be friendly, but do not talk about your life, boyfriend, girlfriend, dog, NOTHING. Pass your skills and road test, do the 4-6 weeks with your trainer, go solo. Put in a solid year with Knight. DO NOT HIT ANYTHING!!! Learn to trip plan and manage your clock. The first year is not easy! Plan on making 40-45 K your first year. Ignore ANY AND ALL future comments about "MEGA INDENTURED SERVITUDE" It is all a bunch of crap! Good luck

I definitely wouldn’t talk about both, not that there’s anything wrong with having both. But, you know how far the gossip train goes.

You should be able to have your paycheck direct deposited to your bank account.

Where I am at, they cannot direct deposit to my bank account for some reason. They said something about my bank not having the security measures in place, or something weird like that. They said there are a handful of banks they don't direct deposit to for some reason, and mine just happened to be one of them. So they deposit my check on to my fuel card.

Then from there I just wire it straight to my checking account. It's one extra step, a minor inconvenience, but not a show stopper. I still get all of my money. Usually I just make like 2 transfers a month, even though I get paid every week. You will have an app you can install on your phone so you can manage your fuel card and you can do it from there. It's easy.
