I think you’ll be fine. Companies expect noobs to do stupid stuff once in awhile. If they weren’t okay with it, they wouldn’t hire noobs.

WTF have you been smoking? I know MI is legal here, but you really shouldn't be smoking mj and posting.
Simple fact of the matter is he hit a stationary object because he didn't want to walk and see what was behind him.
How's this, why don't you hire him and see how long it is before he raises your insurance rates because he keeps hitting stuff.tscottme, gentleroger, Another Canadian driver and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hitting a vacuum is a new one for me.....I appreciate the chuckle. Lol that gets the award for being the most unorthodox preventable ever. Anyway, your not in terrible shape. Just about every driver, if not all drivers, have hit something in their rookie year. Some have years of experience and still hit #### on occasion. When I was a rookie, I had 2 preventables and still was able to move on after my first year. Don't beat yourself up too badly over it. You won't get fired, at least I don't think. You should still be able to find a different job elsewhere if you want. Things happen. Just take this a learning experience and do better.

Just saying guys for his idea of being dinged for the damage and being fired, he has nothing to worry about, he was following their instructions, I am not talking about the damage or the fact that he did it blindly which was wrong.
By the way, Zar, Michigan has a funny garage responsibility law that bleeds over into other services like parking. So if a business tells you to park in a spot or move to a location to get a service and park, they legally assume any liability for damages when you are parked - whether or not you are in the vehicle. This includes truck stops where they have reserved parking with a parking number or location assigned to you. The law has been on the books for over a century and while it may sound like BS, it is very real.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Also, just because the service place has to pay for it doesn't mean the company can't hold the driver at fault.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
I'm with @ZVar on this one. Regardless of any blame commentary, a good trucker will not back up their rig until they have cleared that area behind them. It is an astounding paradox to me that the majority of the time a trucker gets dinged doing something they do less than 1% of the time.
TripleSix, drvrtech77 and tscottme Thank this.
