Running oversized with pilots, steermen and height poles it is always a number system. 1 is far left. When there are multiple lanes and I need to get in a particular lane quick and in a hurry there can't be any confusion.
"I need center left adjacent real quick!" Nope.G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
Another source of standard -
California Driver Handbook - Traffic Lanes
Choosing A Lane
Traffic lanes are often referred to by number. The left or “fast” lane is called the “Number 1 Lane.” The lane to the right of the “Number 1 Lane” is called the “Number 2 Lane,” then the “Number 3 Lane,” etc.
Example of numbered traffic lanes

If California says it or publishes it, it can not be refuted.Dan.S, Grumppy and bottomdumpin Thank this. -
We read and write our numbers and words from left to right.
Almost all numbering conventions in English follow that pattern. Left to right, top to bottom. -
Yes, California knows all.

No reason why the "first" lane can't be the first through lane you land in when you come off the ramp. -
Granny lane ,, steering wheel holder lane and hammer lane makes things easier to understand on the cb
-
That doesn't help when there's seven lanes.
-
Truckers who number the lanes wrong are usually the same truckers who will tell you that because you use the right lane for double lefts, you therefore must use the left lane for double rights.....
-
I see what you did there.scottied67 Thanks this.

You never made a left from the left left turn lane?
