Tonight was annoying. Pick up a relay from Mexico. First theres no BOL in the trailer box. Then I look at my suspension. 75psi. Great.
I go to the CAT, I'm 3500 over on the drive axle. I push the tandems as far forward as it'll go, still 3300 over on drives. Gross weight was under, but apparently whoever loaded the trailer put everything up front.
Was there anything else I coulda done? Load was 1600 miles, from Nogales to Rock Island, if I had just said #### it, and run hoping not to get weighed, what is the worst that could have happened?
Overweight on drive axle

The worst? Nasty fine. Points on your CDL. Forced out of service in a weigh station until load is reworked. Possibly being charged for the reworking, depending on company policy. Being fired if this was not your first tangle with DOT. Difficulty being rehired by a quality company.
Chances are pretty low it would all work out that way, but not impossible.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Cash changing from your pocket to scale master at most every scale that may be open??
FlaSwampRat, blairandgretchen and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
Guess I did the right thing then. Company is trying to find someone to rework the load, and I'm still dispatched, so if they can get it done it wont screw up this week. But the extra time is going to cut into next weeks miles.
Ahh well, just part of the business I guess.Farmerbob1, FlaSwampRat and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Learn the phrase . . . “That’s trucking”.
They can figure out where to get it reworked. -
Good deal if they get it ready to go over the weekend but if its not going to be (reworked) Sat. you may need to get a different load if they have one that is?

Yeah. Overall I love the job so far, and crap like this only seems to happen once every couple months, so I can't complain too much. I'm just looking forward to my contract finishing in april so I can go somewhere else and make more money.Farmerbob1, dosgatos, baha and 1 other person Thank this.

Not at the moment they don't. Hopefully tomorrow they'll be able to get it reworked. If not, I really need to be redispatched before midnight central time saturday, without this load I've only got 1400 miles this week. That aint much at 35 CPM.Farmerbob1 and baha Thank this.

You would be OOS. And lead to other problems and fines against you that you cannot afford.
I would have left the #### thing at Nogales. And told Dispatch they have a BIG problem courtesy of Mexico. It wont be the first time.Farmerbob1 and baha Thank this. -
Unless they changed things, Nogales the bols are kept in the mailbox near the office door. Document everything on the peoplenet in writing. Keep your process clean. Don't let bad or lazy habits become your m.o.
When your pay goes to .42 you'll feel better about things. Cfi is o.k. if you get with the right people. It's not who you know, it's who knows you. Find the cfi what's your 20 thread if you need help. Unless you get a load unassign, the 1600 miles should be yours for the next paycheck. Ask your dm.Farmerbob1, x1Heavy and FlaSwampRat Thank this.
