Drove 2, a short hood 36" sleeper and a long hood 63" sleeper. Short hood truck was good, but a little crammed. Long hood was junk, rode rough and was terrible at getting into chemical facilities. Both had 550 C15's with 18 speeds. I kept a parachute handy for going down hills because the engine brakes sucked. The long hood was very heavy, 33k tare with an open flatbed. Short hood was around 30. Both trucks killed my left knee.

The truck on the bottom was the best truck I ever drove. Light, comfortable, maneuvered very well and rode nice. Deleted 485 Paccar with an 18 speed

I gotta agree not much ol skool bout a 389. They are nice trucks however.

The 379’s most all can use some hush mat. As far as the air coming in the doors there is plastic glued to the door under the panel from the factory. Most times it’s tossed on a door repair so you get air through there. Little things take a big toll over time, taking care of a truck proper is a full time job. I have seen @blairandgretchen ride.....you won’t find anyone who tries harder to keep one up.

379 is probably the most popular truck ever made but will never be a 359 in my opinion.

    Sshhh...

You guys are not supposed to say anything bad about the petro bilt.

You are supposed to say that's the best truck ever made that it has no flaws and no matter what it cost you it's the greatest thing in the world and you have zero problems and everyone should aspire to have one. And the belt buckle of course.

You better knock it off because you're going to get the Petro bilt folk really mad at you. They have no sense of humor for things like... the truth.

I don't know anything about the peterbilts.
(including how to Spell it.) Except if they ride half as nice as they look. I really look forward to getting one.

I just got reminded of this a couple weeks ago when I was bidding on a set of OEM 359.. double rounds that were in need of some loving..
It upsets me these 389 owners converting their headlights & turn signals trying to camouflage them to copy cat the 359 look.. Thank God most of them just go buy the cheap crappy knock offs that vibrant and crack apart in a year's time...
I feel I have paid my dues for many years in the seat of a 359. That I have earned the right to sport that old school cool.. Most of them.haven't.. and they just drive up the price of things that I need to keep my old junk going and are trying to ride around on the look that guys made legendary with out having a clue what cool is:biggrin_25510::biggrin_25510:
