Since some trailers don't have directionals in the top corners on the back side of the trailer, does that mean that it's not illegal to drive when one of them isn't functioning correctly? I'm picking up a trailer in SoCal for a quick drop and hook and while I'll report the issue, I'd rather not wait 2-3 hrs just for someone to show up.
Question about trailer directionals

Dot law.
If it’s on there, it has to work.FLHT and FullMetalJacket Thank this. -
Thats a myth... Only the minimum required lights must function. I've looked it up before, could probably find it... but I don't feel like searching for it right now.

@Cattleman84 is right. They put a law in place a few years back to stop the abuses by states who used the "it's gotta work" bs to fatten their coffers.

Guess i haven’t looked that one up, but i’ve dealt with those “gotta work” officers in the past
BillyBobFrank and Cattleman84 Thank this. -
Minimum required is three, one at the centerline and one on either side at least 6 inches and not more than 12 inches from the center light. See Table 1 in this.
