I am not going to get into a GRIPE fest on this thread. I will just state things as they went. We went to RE Garrison after EAST - WEST Express of Villa Rica GA turned out to be a huge joke for a company . It started out well , good orientation , good equipment ... typically a well set up Volvo 780 . We met our DM and he asked us what we wanted ... typical answer ... to stay busy as best as possible . OK, first week we got 7002 miles ... and they started a new program THE ELITE FLEET . They start you out at .70 cpm , so the first week was great . Our DM had to go to FL on company business , his replacement tanked us the next week on miles, and for some reason our DM came back a different person . Our miles tanked to 5500 .. 3700 to 4500 bottoming out at 2700 . In orientation we were told that RE Garrison was a run hard company . Turns out , they are lacking in freight but advertise that they have a Freight Brokerage in house . But how can you advertise this and have little freight for your drivers ? In the time we were there , they made some really awful decisions en route that caused the loads to be late . By the end of our stay here , they showed their true face by their attitude towards us . I will not even start to explain the payroll issue , but you transflo the paperwork in , and it gets "lost" .... paid next week if they remember to ... if not ... the next week .
They forget to reimburse your out of pocket costs ... it just goes on and on and on.
I cannot recommend this company to anyone . But , looks like our time in the REFRIDGERATED world of trucking has come to an end ... so many opportunities ... no need to sit around and be aggravated about not getting miles and having your pay lost .

Geez, but it’s nice to read a bad review of a company that is coherent, concise, and not all whiny. I truly wish you safe and profitable travels.

Refrigerated freight for a solo driver is bad enough.
For a team it's almost impossible with all the
Delays and sitting that come with it.
If your gonna team hop into a dry van.

Actually I’ve been doing solo reefer hauling for almost 3 years since I came to my current company but also ran it before in the past with a couple of other places. I’ve actually gotten better trip lengths and the long haul dry van stuff I did before my old company got bought out was drying up. Reefer has its drawbacks but with everything teetering on another recession lately it’s probably the safest part of the industry right now.

You just have to get with the right company. I average just under 3000 miles a week, very rarely have to do a 34 and a lot of my loads are D&H.

The worst outfits, IMO, are the ones that try to do everything (dry, flatbed, reefer). They rarely do any of it very well.

We have a small dry division called Western 11, for people that just want to run those states. I’ve never heard a good thing about that division. Likely because we’re not set up for that short /medium haul stuff.

We are geared for long haul. My avg. length of haul is around 1800 miles.

    Recession ?
    Teetering on recession ?

I spent to much time and money obtaining a degree in economics. What most call recession we call the business cycle. Is the glass half full or is the glass half empty ? If your a capitalist its half full with a great idea of how you can fill it up. If your a socialist its half empty and you know someone else stole the other half from you.

In every segment of the industry regardless of what sector , you have some people getting rich , some people going broke and many somewhere in the middle.
