When I was OTR I preferred running on recaps and hated taking a 34hr break.

I was usually away from home for 5 weeks at a time and I'd rather have something to do every day than sit around in some stinking truck stop waiting for my clock to come back.

When the situation dictated it or I just needed a break my 34 would be more like a 40 and chilling in a hotel room for a couple of nights.

In the end, you can only get in so many hours of driving in a week and I prefer 7 easy days instead of balls to the wall and then just stop.

    How about all of you?

It depends on the freight a driver is hauling and their pay structure.

Before elds, I swore by recaps. Since switching from an aobr to eld, I find resetting puts more money in my pocket. But I also get home every weekend.

I try to schedule home time to get a 34 and sit for a couple days. But, if I have to sit I would rather do a 34 than short days every day.

Running on recaps you can do an average of 8.75 hours over 8 days, how do you keep from going nuts being parked for 15.25 hours a day? Sleep in and you still have a few hours to kill. Atleast doing a 34 youve got a whole day you can go find something interesting to do.

I prefer to run out my 70 in as few days as possible, then do a 34. With freight being as up and down as it has been lately, I want the miles in the bank as quickly as possible. That way if I get sent to an unproductive area, I can afford to sit without it hurting as much.

When we ran team coast to coast, we did a reset almost every week. It's necessary when you have a 2000+ mile run, you can't have an 8hr recap day coming sincecyou run nonstop. We enjoyed that...we would often rent a car for the day if we felt like exploring, and it was nice to get "still sleep".

It doesn’t seem to bother me either way. It is nice to have shorter days but at same time like ssb said. Is nice nice to put the money in the bank for when freight slows down.

I hated running recaps. Too many times I had start in the middle of the night so I could catch hours at midnight to make my delivery on time.

Same exact opinion, driver. I can't stand sitting somewhere then getting up at 2-3 am cause eld says I can drive...then rush to make appt time
