Pulled up to the American Cold Storage in Woodburn, IN. Load was SUPPOSED to be a bunch of ice cream headed to a Nestle plant just outside of Atlanta, but apparently my reefer (a ThermoKing Precedent S-600) had other plans. After spending the better part of a day unable to get the trailer down to the -10 that the shipper wanted before loading, it decided to enter an active shutdown state and throw the alarm codes 518 (generator ground fault), 539 (J1939 can datalink fault) and 509 (ECU failed to enable). On one hand, God ####ing #### it. On the other hand, though, at least the unit died BEFORE being loaded. Otherwise I'd have a massive mess of rapidly melting ice cream on my hands. In short, another day at the office. Could've been MUCH worse

I ran reefer for almost 4 years and don’t miss it. Too many extra things to worry about such as washouts and what you’re dealing with that aren’t worth the headache. Been there done that...

Pay's better than the dry van side things in Swift, though. And the miles are more steady. I mean, no matter what happens to other types of freight, people still gotta eat

What's been your miles for this past few months? I've heard every one is taking a hit compared to last year

    FlaSwampRat and KB3MMX Thank this.

About 1600/wk while I was on dry box. They only just approved my request to move to reefers. And i should also mention I only just earned my license back in January, so... yeah. But I have taken a hit from when I was released into the wild back in March; back then I started out with 3000 mile weeks. It was nice

Wait til you have an entire load rejected by a receiver, then you’re in for a real hoot trying to find someone to take the product. Getting rid of perishables is a lot harder than rejected dry goods

Yeah 1600 is very low but this year seems to be pretty rough reefer should hold you over till the recession is over , or wait till the holidays you'll be blown away

Never had a rejected load, truthfully. One of the last things I have left to be proud of
