My wife and I would go crazy without a reset. If we are running recap, then we aren't running hard enough. It's nice to have a full day to catch up on laundry or get a hotel room and decompress. Plus the math is easier when doing hot turns with 2 clocks...one short recap day for one driver can make a 2500mi load late.

It's not just training companies. It's a nationwide epidemic of misinformation spread by safety departments, who are frequently staffed by individuals who are completely unfamiliar with not only the industry, but the particular regulations pertaining to their particular operation. In other words, NOT drivers. It's like asking directions from a dispatcher who graduated college last week and is still muddling through Map Reading 101.

What if you just worked 8 hour days like the rest of the worker bees out there?, you can just about run everyday if you want. I think its like a 7.5 hr day and then you get no days off or take a day every once in a while and have a little cushion for the pushin.

What if you worked 14 hours a day for 5 days straight and no 34 hour break option? You'd have to wait about 50+ hours to run again.

You know that is against companies policy, since micromanagement is strong most get 1 day a week.

To the OP, why would you not want a 34? It makes sense to take one on the weekends, since it isn't a plethora of loads going out on Saturdays and Sundays. Most loads becoming more regionlized for solos. So more times than not, whatever you grab on Friday, is going to deliver Monday. If it's 1200 miles give or take, you'll end up forced into a reset. Why not take the break? Burnout is real out here...

I bet there will be and drivers will think they’re great and they scored a victory or whatever. And then will find out how bad these great new rules can screw them.

Rules don't screw drivers. Drivers screw themselves. They have no idea how to work. It's too many rules to memorize so they can't screw me up.
