Some people do just fine at a company while others had issues with them. I once refused to work for a company just because of what a few people said about them. I was told that was the only company that had any work so I went to work for them and found out that it wasn’t the company who had the problem, it was the guys who kept complaining about the company. I ended up working for them for 10 years and loved it. I try my best to stay as positive and professional as I can. My grandmother once told me that if I didn’t have anything good to say to keep my mouth shut.

I know the first company I drove for showed favoritism to its longest running drivers. They got the best pay, newest trucks, best runs, lightest loads, awards for best fuel economy. The newbies got the crap trucks, worst pay, worst runs, longest unpaid layovers, heaviest loads and no awards for anything. So you talk to someone driving for them for 20 years and they love the company. Talk to someone driving for them for 6 months, and they hate it. Neither problem was the driver, it was the company. Same company, both drivers experienced VASTLY different working situations.
They would throw a "printout" on the table in the driver lounge of the trucks with the best fuel economy for the previous quarter. All the trucks at the top were the trucks with the highest truck numbers (newest trucks.) Most of them ran dedicated Fedex, which was ALWAYS a light load. I ran more international paper at 44,000lbs than any other customer. My fuel mileage was always listed on the very last page. Well no #### sherlock, pulling 1000lbs of cell phones will give you better mileage than 44,000lbs of paper rolls every time. I would look at it, laugh and throw it back on the table. Anyone who know anything about the company knew that printout of fuel mileage meant nothing. I was in a beat up 2014 plasticadia and the guys at the top with the best mileage were in then 2019 and 2020 plasticadias with the automatics.Last edited: Jan 23, 2025

As a new driver, I can’t expect the best runs, newest trucks, best pay and lightest loads. I’ve got to prove myself first. You have to wade through the liquid crap to get to the lush garden. Maybe they do have the slowest trucks, maybe they do have issues. Being a new driver I’m sure have issues too that I’ll find out about and I’ll need to correct. No such thing as a perfect company or a perfect driver. Any job is better than no job when you’re facing homelessness and that’s the position I’m in right now. If not this job, this company then in less than 1 month my wife and I will be living on the streets. I can’t afford to wait. I’ve got to get my foot in the door with a driving job somewhere and it might as well be with Schneider. There’s a lot worse companies to get started with. So, if I’m in the huge pumpkin slow rolling and holding up traffic just remember that at least I’m working gaining experience to later get in with a better company. And I’m probably going to drive by laughing hysterically and waving at those who lost their temper, flew around me, got pulled over and receiving a Safe Driving Award for losing their temper.

I’ll be just fine, gaining experience, making money, paying my bills and staying out of trouble. I’ll do my job as professionally as I can, do what I’m supposed to do, be where I’m supposed to be and I’ll be on time.Vic Firth, Chi Town Steers, Albertaflatbed and 2 others Thank this. -
Look, I won't go into specifics, but obviously @drivingmissdaisy has a hard on for Schneider. That's fine; everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
But, I will say this, Schneider had some of the nicest people I've ever had the opportunity to work with. Are they perfect? No. But I wouldn't trade a single one (except 1 who got run off for being a dick), for anyone I've encountered in my 30 plus years in the freight business.
They will help you if you ask for help. Don't be afraid to ask. Help at Schneider is like a high school date on a Saturday night. You don't ask, you don't get.
You'll be fine.Sirscrapntruckalot, ElmerFudpucker, austinmike and 5 others Thank this. -
Just consider Schneider like graduate school. Everyday is a school day. If you quit learning or think there is nothing new to learn today, you are done. I learned something great yesterday by accident, and I'm grateful. Just stay humble, let God ride with you and learn everything you can every day. Schneider will be a great opportunity for you. There will be flaws, there will be things you don't like anywhere you go. Tune them out, don't dwell on the bad.
Speedy356, Opus and Cherokee65 Thank this. -
drivingmissdaisy: People miss use numbers and charts all the time. They are morons. They think it makes them look smart and justify their $1700 leather chair. Screw them
