Hi drivers; I’ve been driving for a few years now and I’ve driven quite a few different jobs, to include OTR, Local Food Delivery, Local Freight Delivery, Tanker LPG, and now currently I am driving a 53 footer delivering groceries to local grocery stores while doing about 8 stops a day. I have driven both non union as well as union. After all these positions, I still have never earned what I feel to be a fair salary. Personally, I have found that in regards to the trucking industry, the pay sucks. I don’t expect to get rich; I simply would like to earn $80-$90 thousand a year. Not ‘up to’, as is continually touted in most recruiting propaganda....I mean realistically. And I am willing to work for it. It looks like I will be starting with Walmart toward the end of April up in Johnstown, N.Y. Recruiting told me that I must be willing to relocate myself as well as my family up to that area from where I currently live, which, although I’m not thrilled about, I am willing to do... provided the pay is worth it. I have heard that Walmart drivers are among the highest paid company drivers in the industry, with a very realistic first year of $90 K plus. Is this really true? Thanks in advance for any possible feedback.
I’m going through the process myself and what I was told during the interview was drivers in the northeast will make 90k+ their first year. Do you have a date for onboarding? I’m headed out to Arkansas on the 28th of April. Going to be running out of Raymond NH.
Welcome to Walmart. Yes the salary you are seeking is very achievable if you are willing to work and not fool around much. Focus on completing your work correctly and driving safe and the money will follow. Good luck
Not sure of a definate starting date since all the background checks are not yet complete. Good luck to you and congrats on working out of Raymond. I used to deliver there when I worked for ABF.
I thought you had to live like 250 miles from the terminal of the walmart you gonna work. Did they change it?
