Might be true for some locations. I know that we own our building and that the YRC barn across town owns theirs. Both locations are falling apart along with the rest of our respective equipment, so that's how you know that it belongs to us.

Not unusual for one carrier to own multiple barns and renting them out to other carriers. The barn that ODFL uses up on Kalispell Montana is owned and previously occupied by USF Reddaway before they consolidated everything down in nearby Missoula.

Not sure if this means anything about future buyouts or mergers.

My company signed a deal with Knight last year to haul our returns and run them out east to the manufacturers inspection centers. Four different drops in two different states. This way we don't have to call ltl’s to do it anymore. We just email the info to a gal at Knight in Phoenix and she schedules pickup. If it is a full truckload at around 800 tires a Knight truck shows up. If it is 100 or less Knight sends YRC.

Keep in mind we are 3 miles from AAACooper and 10 miles from Swift owned Cental Freight. YRC is about 20 miles from us.

Not sure if you read the press release. But Swift already stated that acquiring AAACooper is just the start of entering the LTL market. They have every intention to expand their LTL portfolio.

With all that said, YRC (or Yellow as we are now calling ourself) is on our last leg financially. We had to get $750 million of tax payer money to make payroll. It would not surprise me if we are the next one to be absorbed.
