4’ tarps on a stepdeck seems like an extra set of tarps to carry around. If you pull a step and carry tarps, legal dims you’ll want 10’ drops. Oversize you’d want larger. machinery tarps would be a good idea.

4 foot drops are steel tarps, very handy. If the opportunity was there, I'd much rather roll steel tarps than lumber.

Why would you buy a step deck only to pull short freight? Unless you are one of those that refuse to tarp tall freight.

    Personally I'd carry 2 24.5x16.5, 2 24.5x28.5, 1 12x12 smoke tarp with d ring rows both directions and 1 coil tarp.

Edit to add. Flaps on each regular tarp, the 4 ft and the 10 ft. And machinery grade vinyl not the thin easily torn lightweight lumber grade vinyl

    ChevyCam and Ruthless Thank this.

16 X 26. 2 of them. Those will cover most loads without carrying 3 other sizes.

Don't get the 8 foot drops unless you know for sure you're going to need them. On a somewhat regular basis.

You can get custom tarps made at a lot of different places. I've seen 4 foot drops with clip on skirts to convert them to 10 foot drops. You can specify your length along with how many rows of D rings and how far apart you want the rows. Flaps, no flaps, whatever you want, someone will make it for you. Custom does come with a price, though, but you get exactly what you want.

Seriously, I've tarped a lot of shtuff with steel tarps. And, if you roll them nice and tight, you can get them inside your enclosed headache rack and away from opportunists.

I always had 6’ drop lumber tarps, most carry 8’ and 4’ steel tarps, but 6’ usually works unless you like double stacked lumber all the time

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
