Back when I was at IWX, some loads that they would not want to freeze that were mixed with loads carried at say 30 degrees, but then IWX does not have compartments only 1 big hole.

I haul a 2 zone reefer on an overnight trip, -20 degrees in zone 1 and 36 degrees in zone 2....theirs a wall seperating the 2 zones, we use the blankets to help keep the product in zone 2 from freezing over since the wall that divides the zones lets out a lot of frozen air. They dont work that well for what we use them for. Honestly theyre a hassle and essentially useless for what we do. Not sure what youre using one for but unless i get in my trailer and roatate my entire load before parking my truck for the night, the product nearest the wall that seperates the 2 zones will still freeze over.

I have taken some pharma loads in spring or fall in dry vans with insulated blankets. I figure they work, or the pharma manufacturers would require reefer trailers all year, all loads.
