Why not join the Highway Patrol?

 

Not sure what a murder line is.

It depends on the jurisdiction but in Ontario that would be a perfectly legal pass. We pass snow plows, farm equipment etc. all the time on double lines. Looking at the speed difference and the distance you could see ahead I don't see the issue.

 

Slick and icy road?
I would say the road crews did an excellent job of clearing that road. Maybe you should head to Florida?

 

Having to drive 45 on that road for an indeterminate period of time is going to push many drivers to do things that might not ordinarily want to do. In the winter time, in northern areas with many miles to go, and when the roads are "good" and the sun is up, you got to roll as fast as is legally possible. i.e. "make hay while the sun shines".

Agreed, maybe Florida would be a better place to run your winter months and let the big dogs run the way they need to run to make a dollar between November and March while having to run most miles in the west and north
