The secret handshake society does exist at Mercer. It also exists at other carriers. I have seen it and been affected by it numerous times.Recently seen my load cancelled "because the customer cancelled it" only to discover the load was "ninjaed" and given to another driver. I actually followed up on this load. I have seen every grade school mode of sneaky underhanded backbiteing Indian giving behavior here. Am I wrong????? Well ask the legions of experienced and we'll seasoned owner operators quitting every week and leaving Mercer.
Now being there 20 some years probably won't give you the same insight as a well seasoned experienced owner operator that has 30 years experience in running his business and even brokering freight at the same time. These same people at the Mercer yard taking their decals and turning in their permit books seeing the same thing I do. That is the sad part.
Most reasonable people will stay and do everything in their power to make it work.........until a point.
Obviously the establishment Mercer O/O people will never admit some of the nefarious behaviors that go on or exist. Kinda reminds me of when Hillary Clinton makes excuses for bad behavior or deny any wrong doing lol.
No problem with pulling Mercer frieght.....that is providing there is viable freight to begin with. You can set preferences until the cows come home...doesn't meant beans unless there is frieght to be had.
The load board is dated beyond compare. It is in severe need of an update/upgrade.

I am not saying people do not put in hard work. I am saying there are people putting in hard work and get shafted.
Yes loads are hidden. Yes loads are set aside for people. Seen it. Dispute
spyder being an exception how do you explain the legions of seasoned owner operators leaving. I have met some of them and spoken to them over time. They saw the same thing I did!!
The real sad part is I saw a Mercer Mentor I know very well at the truck stop today talking about throwing in the towel. Why....... For the same reasons I stated in this post.
We can go back and forth all day. The bottom line is this. Mercer is no different from Landstar or any of the other carriers. They all play games and politic. As for me it's not about quitting....it's about seeing how much you can take and keep pushing forward. If I do leave it will be with the knowledge that I did everything in my power to make it work. I mean everything. Now understand that does not change my views on how some of these trucking companies operate... Including Mercer.
This will sound funny but I try to discourage people from leaving Mercer despite their transgressions. I do this for 2 reasons.
1. A devil known is better than dealing with a devil unknown.
2. It won't be better anywhere else. Despite all Mercers issues.....they are a better carrier than what's out there. Leaving Mercer and expecting a truckers utopia with teddy bears, lollipop dreams of endless freight and wealth won't happen. Try everything you can to make it work for you.Last edited: Aug 22, 2016

Wait a second. Are you actually saying a load you were dispatched on was taken off you and given to another truck? Is that really the claim you are making?

Bo Hunt and spyder7723 Thank this.

And people leave for many reasons, most simply because they can't adapt to changing things. But I will keep doing what I do and make money. The odd thing is when a guy leaves it seems to always be everything fault but his.

He is so busy looking for conspiracies, he hasn't even figured out how to get a load off another loadboard, there is a way, and it been discussed here, but it will snow in Ga. In July before I say how. Lol
spyder7723 Thanks this. -
Trust me I know the ins and outs. I am merely pointing out the reason people leave. Specifically I am talking about the real seasoned owner operators who were recruited to come to Mercer and found out the real story.......and then left within 3 to 6 months. Didn't take them long to figure out all the buddy husteling and secretive games that were being played.
Well I think this thread ran it's course. As usual the Mercer establishment O/O (maybe I should call them Clinton people) will continue to deny everything etc etc. Continue to slurp the Mercer Koolaid.
God bless and stay safe.
