I’d have ignored hos and delivered on time…especially if it was something that could freeze and get rejected. But then again it would depend on your company turning a blind eye.
Should be legal in these types of situations but I haven’t seen anything coming out of the fmcsa.
I prepared for the worst and shutdown last night. Got a great load out of Nebraska early Monday morning with 3 days to deliver.
Filled and treated my fuel, got a reserved spot and will be eating Black Bear Diner 3 meals per day on the company credit card, lol.
Seriously, bring it on!
May this be the great cleansing of 2026

You'll be lucky to get in there Monday. I'm in north Louisiana and they're saying at least Tuesday for us. Its supoosed to be 10 degrees Monday night so Tuesday its still all gonna be frozen up. We probably wont get back on the road here until Wednesday. I'm just sayin. We gotta wait and see.

Not going to be fun for all those who don’t think ahead.
Like putting yourself in the middle of it stuck in a truck stop that won’t have power for a couple days. Better stock up on what you need..cash registers don’t work without power nowadays.hope not dumb twucker, blairandgretchen, nextgentrucker and 3 others Thank this. -
2 things going forward.
Look more than a day ahead at the weather. It seems from your post you were caught off guard.
Always call shippers and receivers yourself. I do this before I even start the truck. First hand info is importanthope not dumb twucker, TripleSix, nextgentrucker and 5 others Thank this. -
Everyone in North Texas knows the roads are going to get bad. Here is the weather forecast for Sulphur Springs, TX.
No one expects you to be on schedule this weekend. However, your boss does expect you to keep your equipment and the load safe.
If you feel like you have to go, you may make it to Texarkana and find parking. You can park in the I-30 on ramps in Texas, and not get hassled. The forecast for Sulphur Springs tonight is a low of 25 degrees with freezing rain or sleet. I-30 gets curvy in Sulphur Springs, and you don't want to be there if it gets greasy. You can see the Cranberry place right off the interstate.

Wait... Did you say you'd ignore HOS and run the load?

I was not really caught off guard, I knew that storm was coming in since I got that load Thursday. I got that warning in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, all these states, It was supposed to be delivered today but I didn't have the hours for it. I just thought the storm would've be over by the time I get to Sulphur Springs tomorrow but I was wrong.
Nah man, I'm not gonna leave a safe spot at a truck stop just to go park at a ramp somewhere, besides the receiver is shutdown for the weekend so there's no point. But my dispatcher wanted me to make that delivery tomorrow... Is winter over yet, I'm already tired of it lol.Last edited: Jan 23, 2026

Your dispatcher can read a weather report 7 days in advance just as well as you can.
