He did hit the car with his trailer. He was overdriving his following distance. If he was defensive driving he would never have rearended that car and would not have to have a rear end collision on his PSP report.

Car looked like it drove away with no damage. Of course I'm watching on a phone too.

The car wasn't in his lane to be following, they came in front of him and stopped. He didn't do anything wrong.
Rusty Trawler and Dye Guardian Thank this. -
Luckily that steer tire didn't blow one second later...if it had the 3 on the side of the road would have been run over.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -

And that, super truckers, is why they tell us to go SLOWER than the flow of traffic.

If you watch the video in slow motion and full screen he blew a steer tire and panicked. He should have stayed off the brakes, accelerated a bit to keep it straight, then pull over to the right shoulder. I had this happen in my 45' motorhome, front tire blew, but I stayed off the brakes, had to hit the accelerator (It's has a C7 Cat so it is not a fire breather by any means) until I had it going straight again, then eased it off to the shoulder. I am not sure if this happens in a combination truck or not when you blow a steer, but in a straight frame it pulls really hard to the left and hitting the brakes will put you into the median. He was lucky there was no k rail or barrier.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
There's a video from a while ago showing just that in a set of doubles no less!UsualSuspect Thanks this.
