Some of the food service companies around me are actually more likely to take the guy with 1 to 5 years of experience because they may have recently done city driving and are still willing to touch freight. Whereas the older drivers have worked their way up to a cushy linehaul drop and hook role.

I don't mind unloading/loading myself. I did it at my last local job for 2 years before I came to Yellow. In fact it was the most enjoyable part of the day since it was refreshing after sitting in traffic all day. Recently applied to gordon & saia and was told other candidates were hired. This is considering I have 4yrs experience, clean record. Before I came to Yellow I was getting callbacks within 1-3 days from nearly every place I applied to. Now i'm getting nothing.

Welcome to my world. 15 applications, 3 phone interviews and one personal interview.

I secured a new job today but I am not slated to start until September. This is not even a driving position. I may have to go elsewhere.

Something is going on. Stock over 3.00 a share. One investment firm has over 50 percent of stock so now has controlling interest…..

Well to be fair this is a bad week to apply. I applied for a company and didn’t hear back so I went to the terminal. I was told one recruiter retired, one is on leave or FMLA, and one is on vacation. Like I get that it’s summer time and people are on vacation and getting their kids ready to go to school or college, but don’t leave us hanging on the applications.

    Siinman Thanks this.

Makes you wonder if they know that there will be some kind of re-structuring and bail out.
