The DOT’s Office of Inspector General has released a report on the results of the cross-border trucking pilot program. The OIG determined that the data gathered was insufficient to make any conclusions about the safety of Mexican carriers driving in the United States.
The controversial program included only 13 carriers by the time it ended on October 14th, 2014, with only 15 carriers total participating throughout the study. The number of carriers remained low despite the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administrations efforts to enroll new carriers in the program which started back in 2011.
Additionally, even though there were 15 carriers over of the life of the program, 90% of the border crossings were made by only 2 of those carriers and 80% of the inspections were performed on those same two carriers.
Even though the program included a too-small pool of data, the FMCSA claims that the data indicates that Mexican carriers and drivers are no less safe than American carriers and drivers. The OIG agrees with this claim, but says that the small amount of information gathered renders the data invalid.
Despite the OIG’s misgivings about the data, the FMCSA does not seem to be reconsidering their decision to allow all 13 carriers who were participating in the program when it ended to continue operating in the U.S.

What the DOT IG is actualy saying is they cannot even twist the data into supporting the lie they want to spread about Mexican trucks being mechanically safe or the drivers not even being properly trained. And heaven forbid anyone talk about how the Mexican drivers pile 4-5 people in a single truck with stolen identities and never stop for resets because their log books and inspection logs are forgeries. Not to mention how they slow down the American drivers at the fuel desks every day as they Western Union the money they earn out of the country in just under $500 bundles so they aren’t reported for taxes! (Any no one wants to expose the same scam with the Canadian drivers spending 6-9 months a year here, money out of the USA the same way!)
It’s was bad enough the the Canadian drivers are allowed to spend 6-8 months out of the year in our country as they pick up and drop off cargo in our country without having to file income taxes as they steal cargo from our people, but the DOT is dead set on allowing the Mexica and to do the same to us.
And let’s not even start talking about the scam of the ultra low sulfur fuel they have already forced upon the industry that has raped all the take home pay out of the driver’s pockets and set the stage to turn the remaining cargo over to foreign nationals, just as they have the manufacturing industry to China.

Canadians can only drop off loads from Canada and pick up loads going back to Canada. They can’t P&D loads within the US not going back to Canada. You don’t want stuff being moved between the US & Canada? Hope your not buying your own fuel! They have to report stuff same as we do, don’t be paranoid. Mexicans are another story.

If you can’t do it and make money,,,You can’t do it…Time to stop working for free…as long as you give it away…they will take it!…

Elton, let me educate you. Drivers from Canada can only bring in or pick up freight from the US back to Canada. We can not pick up freight in the US and deliver in the US. And by the way it’s called “Trade” not theft. Canada is US biggest trading partner. Just so you also know, every single truck that crosses into the US has to pay a10$+ fee which, Canada does not apply to US carries. Now tell me who does that benefit more.
As you might very well know, in the US you can become a truck driver overnight. Such things don’t happen in Canada. And as far as the equipment goes. Half of the trucks running in the US, would be taken out of service in Canada.
Be happy and think outside the box!

I don’t know of the specifics on the Mexican carriers but Canadian carriers are only allowed to come here to the USA to deliver a load and must load up going directly back to Canada… Don’t complain.we are allowed to do the same thing going into Canada and bringing back to USA. .. No bouncing around in the country. I believe which was my problem is the Mexican Carriers Were allowed to come into USA and bounce around making money then go back so please v
Get all your details before calling out the Canadian carriers. .I live in Georgia so it don’t affect me but I like all cards laid out.not to mention at the countless times I’ve seen those Mexican carriers driving trucks that were no way in safe operating condition. 1 time in Laredo I seen a guy actually craw out the passenger door because driver door would not open do to the entire left front side was caved in from a pretty serious accident at some time but then I look at the Canadian carriers and I don’t see a bunch of garage looking trucks.. I’m not greedy I’ll share as long as everyone is following the rules specified

Let us drivers report information on the sub-par equipment, driving habits, and legality of our Mexican drivers in the US… I can probably find a decent handful that don’t even have a legal drivers license, and many others don’t have an IFTA sticker. They blow past DOT scales and the DOT don’t even pursue them. Someone is getting paid big to keep their mouths shut.
