Truckers have only a few days left to comment on a proposed big-truck ban in the Finger Lakes area of New York.
The N.Y. Department of Transportation will accept comments until Dec. 14 on the restriction, which would restrict trucks with trailers longer than 45 feet long on seven Finger Lakes roads. Big rigs not going directly to or from a local terminal or to reach food, repair or other trucking services, would be required to stick to the National Network, primarily interstates.
The state’s governor, David Paterson, announced the proposed restriction in May, and comment deadlines have been pushed back twice.
Those wishing to comment can email the DOT at TruckRegComment@dot.state.ny.us. Traditional mail should be addressed to Astrid C. Glynn, Commissioner, New York State Department of Transportation, 50 Wolf Road, Albany, NY 12232.
