A Canadian trucker has been banned from operating a commercial motor vehicle inside the United States after he ignored multiple out-of-service violations, racking up four out-of-service orders in five days.
It started on March 4th when the driver was pulled over in New York after fellow motorists had called in to report him for erratic driving. When state police stopped him, they found that he was over his allowable hours and placed him out of service.
Less than 3 hours later he was stopped again in Vermont after police received more complaints about his erratic driving. The Vermont state police ordered him out-of-service again and had his vehicle towed to a nearby storage facility. But even that wouldn’t stop the driver.
Four hours after the truck arrived, a video camera captured the driver taking the truck and driving out of the facility.
He then went three days without a reported incident, but on March 8th he was placed out of service during a standard inspection in Massena, NY for having falsified logs. He was only back on the road for four hours before he was stopped for speeding, and was – for the last time – cited for false logs and placed out of service.
It is not yet known the full extent of charges that will be brought against the driver, but he has already been charged in Vermont with careless and negligent operation of a motor vehicle and has a court date for next month.

I hope he is doing this crap in his own country so they can prosecute him. Banning him from the US probably won’t curb his habits.

After the first OOS Theyshould have blocked his truck in and chained it up.. Why wasnt he arrested for ignoring the first OOS. That in itself is a crime. If you or i did it.. We would still be in jail.

Up here there’s a thing called LMO, short for Labor Market Option. It’s a federal loophole. Trucking companies claim they can’t find any qualified drivers, so they use that program to ship in totally unskilled and inexperienced drivers “from the old country”. You can spot those ads easily, they specifically mention the program, and include things like you can bring your family over in 6 months, no experience needed etc. They “prove” they can’t find anybody qualified by advertising in various places, especially the federal job bank database. It’s a complete scam. Theirs trucks are junk, and they pay dirt. The fresh off the boat types don’t know any better, and the company holds the hammer of sending them back if they complain about anything. The worst part about it is, that group has tanked the rates up here by lowballing every chance they get. That affects the rest of us big time. Typically up here the insurance companies demand a driver has at least 2 years of verifiable experience in order for them to supply insurance. But no experience required!!! They manufacture offshore fake driver experience records for the drivers. That immigrant group has virtually taken over the trucking industry up here. Now do you wonder why there’s so many brain dead drivers on the road down there with Canadian plates?

There are less than 350,000 OTR truckers in Canada and only about half of them are Cda-US drivers. One knucklehead does something very stupid and the whole continent is talking about it? Let me guess, this driver wasn’t part of some demographic minority!
There are millions of US CDL OTR drivers and plenty run loads into and out of Canada, and some do very stupid things too, but you don’t hear a word about it if the driver hapens to be part of a visible demographic minority, which most are these days.

I check out companies up here in Canada before I’d think about talking to them in the first place. The SAFER website is good for that. I love the companies that get nailed for their drivers having no valid licence or can’t speak english. You guys down there have mexicans taking all your jobs, up here it’s the punjabis doing it.

How can he be banned if he hasnt gone to court for anything yet? It obviously sounds bad, but the law is still the law. If everything her allegedly did is true, then he should have his licence suspended. Since Canada and most of the North easten U. S have reciprocity. His licence would be suspended. Period. I seriously doubt that he can be “banned” from driving one place and not the other-maybe back in the day, but not now.

I used to run north/south all the time years ago. I stopped doing that after 911 cuz the border became entirely too irritating and the new border guards all have attitudes and if you say one wrong thing they can ban you for life on a whim. In my day the US states wouldn’t report any ticket to my jurisdiction up here if I paid the fine before it was due. (Up here you get wacked twice for a ticket – land of the fleeced). One thing I liked was mitigation by mail. Usually had the judge bang the fine down by half.
