Three truckers in a convoy recently came under attack by a gunman driving a white pickup truck on Highway 59 in Montgomery County, Texas.
According to a report by KHOU 11 News, three trucks were driving on Highway 59 when a white pickup truck in front of them started speeding up and slowing down to prevent them from passing.
“The pickup truck sped up and throwed his hand out the window, flashing a pistol and fired two shots in the air,” said one of the drivers in an interview with KHOU.
Responding responsibly, the lead driver got in touch with the other two, got the pickup’s license plate, slowed down to avoid further confrontation, and called the police.
The pickup took a highway exit, but shortly after, came back around and pulled up next to one of the trucks.
“He throwed his left hand out the window, flipped me the bird, then turned around with a pistol in his right hand shot off a round into my truck,” said the driver.
The bullet hit the truck’s transmission, disabling it.
The driver was pulling pieces of the bullet out of his transmission while police officers were taking his report when the pickup truck drove past again. The police officers caught up with the pickup and arrested the driver.
The confrontation could have been much worse, as when police searched the pickup truck they found multiple handguns, a rifle, a shotgun, and plenty of ammo.

Run him off the road. Self-defense. Who knows if he would have shot someone else who couldn’t run him off the road?

Bad, bad idea…running a four wheeler off the road on purpose is NOT self defense; it’s stupid and dangerous for you, too.
Stop as soon as you can safely, get a bear on 19 then your cellphone, on the Qualcomm if you can get dispatch to report your location for you, also. Get into the middle of the cab, stay down low. Be prepared if the four wheeler idiot is stupid enough to come try to force his way through your locked door. Tire thumpers and the good representatives from Colt, Smith & Wesson (that ain’t a law firm) as a last resort, in case the idiot forces you to protect yourself.

Aside from the arsenal in his truck, he had to be out of his mind. After shooting a truck, who in their right mind will make another pass with a police presence?

While doing a city delivery, I had a wacko cut in front of me, slam on his brakes, and stop me in the middle of the street. He gets out, demanding to know why I’m off the ******g truck route. Ummm…well, let’s see; possibly because the gas station I’m delivering to isn’t on the ******g truck route…
Oddly enough, this a-hole was also driving a white pickup. It’s getting to be a scary world with so many mentally unstable people running around out there.

There are a lot of unstable and/or irrational people out there who hate trucks, and people driving them, with a passion. This is unfortunately fueled by irresponsible, sensationalist reporting in the mass media. I run across the fall out from it all the time: At parties and at other social gatherings. Everybody and their grandmother have an opinion on truck driving. And everybody had a story how a truck “almost killed them” at one time. Well, to that I always have an answer that I get “almost killed” by a fourwheeler each and every day, each and every shift. I explain in calm demeanor that from a vantage of my cab I have a very clear view into their vehicles. That if they saw what each and every one of them does in their car – other than driving – would raise the hair on their backs. I let them know that they are just amateurs. Most of their lifetime driving experience is contained to the same places and same roads. They drive kids to school, they drive to work, to their local mall and supermarket. then back on the same roads. Its mostly done on well lit roads and in a fair weather. And they drive on the average 15 000 miles a year, if that. After saying all that I pose a question – just how do they arrive to a conclusion that they are qualified to question, judge, or criticize the decisions of the professionals. I ask them if when they call a plumber to do a major project in their house, they stand over him and tell him just how bad he is doing his job? Or the dentist? Or the electrician? I mean, because they have screwed in a lightbulb now and then, doesn’t make them an expert in electrical wiring, does it?! Usually after a talk like that, they shut up and change the subject. However there are people out there – like this nut – who will not stop at whining and criticizing. They take matters in their own hands, and want to “teach us” by slamming their brakes, slowing us down, stopping in front of us etc. All a very dangerous behaviour that endangers everybody around and behind our trucks.

What kind of ammo can pierce a TRANSMISSION housing from a “pistol”?!?
Either the reporter got the facts wrong or something missing.
Hey Joe Skeptical, if this guy can put a slug though an Eaton 10 from a moving vehicle, what’s hiding under you pillow in your bunk going to do?
