A woman who admitted to attempting to commit suicide by driving head-on into a large truck has been charged with multiple crimes a result.
According to police, Texas resident Laura Mayeaux, was driving very slowly southbound along the northbound lanes of I-35 in Texas. When she saw a large truck headed towards her, she allegedly pulled out in front of the truck with the intention of committing suicide.
Miscalculating the timing slightly, her large Chevy Suburban, actually hit the side of the truck between the cab and the trailer, crushing the front passenger side of her Suburban, and flipping the truck over. The crash also involved a pickup truck that was behind the semi.
While Mayeaux was airlifted to a Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, police on the scene discovered an opened container of alcohol and ordered a blood alcohol test at the hospital, proving that she was intoxicated at the time of the crash. The trucker and the pickup driver were both injured and treated by EMTs at the scene of the crash.
You can see the crash below as it was captured by the dash-cam of a vehicle behind the accident. The video provided by the Waxahachie Daily Light.
Mayeaux was charged with deadly conduct, driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content level greater than or equal to 0.15 and criminal mischief greater than or equal to $1,500 but less than $20,000 with bonds totaling $14,000.

Holy cr@p! Well so much for the”it will just bounce off” theory! The radio was playing a story about “life without a car” that was a poetic touch. She will probably get life, and she will be without a car. Bad four wheeler, very, very,BAD!

Wait what?! The damage to the semi and trailer is more than $20k(including tow)
BASEBALLbat says
No. That is just what the state is charging for criminal acts. The Driver / Company will come back for damages I guess.
Kajidono says
Yeah, the state charges are supposed to reflect the value of the damage done. It would change the level of crime she was charged with.

She got a slap on the wrists compared to what they would have done to the trucker if there wasn’t proof that it was her fault…. I mean… Really?! If that trucker is anything like my husband and me, then his whole home got flipped over because of a stupid b!#@$ who was too much of a coward to cut her wrists or shoot herself. I got mental issues, and I’ve tried to kill myself, but I never endangered anyone else trying to get the job done. NO excuse, lady…
All and all, though, at least no one died or was severely injured.

I always have my dashcam on in my 18 wheeler. I already put one video on YouTube of a car spinning out in front of me and today in Charlotte North Carolina a car cut me off. I had to hit my brakes in order to avoid her smashing into the front driver’s side of my truck. I got it on video but since nothing happened no need to post it. Dashcams can really help clear a truck driver.

That crazy lady in the 4-wheeler will want to commit suicide after she gets the full bill for the pay of the truck, trailer, cargo and the expenses. I hope the driver make a full recovery.

“Next time you try to kill yourself? Please, kill YOURSELF, leave the rest of us out of it.”
And why, exactly, wasn’t she charged with attempted homicide? Kinda fits the definition of ‘attempting’.
